Conservative Trading

Is there such a thing called conservative investments with Forex?, kinda like Mutual Funds for the long term?

Probably not exactly the same but some traders are much more conservative than others. For instance some traders only risk .25% of their account, not the whole 2%(or 1%) maximum that is recommended. Other traders risk much more like 5% on a single trade it just comes down to what their risk appetite is.

Craziest trade I ever did? Had 500 in a micro account 400:1 margin, leveraged the whole thing (almost) 170 lots. Made 10 pips, that’s 170 bucks in one trade. I really, really, really don’t recommend trying this, I got extremely lucky but wow the adrenaline rush was awesome.

ezTrader : So you gambled?

Some people might say no because I was trading with the trend, all indicators pointed in the right direction and it was a high probability trade. In my opinion (which is what counts because it was my trade) it was a gamble, I’ve had a trade go bad on me too many times even when everything is perfect to not call it a gamble.

But it was still the most exciting trade I’ve ever done

You must have been doing this for a while to take that risk.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it gambling. I wouldn’t call it investing either…because that implies consistent returns and that wasn’t. But if you have a trading plan that is really consistent…leveraging your entire account might not be that dangerous. Obviously it also depends on how much draw down you allow.

If you want to “invest” in currencies you can use ETFs traded like stocks.
