Some early month losses put me down to -4.5%, near the point that my monthly stop loss would kick me out of the market. I then clawed my way back up to +2%, but a string of losses over the last two days mean that I finished the month at -1.44% of starting capital. It’s been a while since I last finished a month in the negative
Was this all special for me? Have I let my personal circumstances affect my trading? Or were the market conditions over the last four weeks genuinely quite challenging?
I’ve found it very hard long-term trend-following. I assume the equity market correction has been so severe that it has led to a rotation of capital across all equity markets and also forex. This seems to have disrupted many long-running trends. Would have been better off not bothering.
For me February was ok. But it happens with everyone. Your strategy may not work in every month. And market doesn’t behave all the time in a same way. In this type of situation what I do is- I reanalyze all the entry and try to find out where the problem is. Sometimes it happens purely because of psychological barriers. You can also do this.
