Did you start trading forex?

I know there are a lot of different traders, but I was wondering if you started trading in the forex market or did you initially trade other asset classes before you ventured out into the forex market?

Personally I started out trading equities before I decided to add forex trading to my overall portfolio. I having previous trading experience sped up my learning curve as I developed my forex trading strategy as it is obvious that trading forex is different than trading equities at least in my opinion as well as experience.

I have bought some stocks years ago, but this wasn’t active trading but rather buy and hold.
I started actively trading with forex (mostly demo till now), but would be also a bit interested in trading CFDs on Stock Indexes.
However, my main interest goes to forex.

I traded stocks for over 10 years before starting on forex. I still spend more time following the stock market vs forex market.

Hello Rambo,

First I started from Stocks and then moved to forex. I prefer trading forex than other assets. But I have a portfolio with different asset classes. So the risk bit diversified.

i always heard about stocks, but forex was the first and only thing that i every tried trading, this was a couple of years back, when i was wondering what are these banners all about in everysite almost, etoro was quite good at marketing their brand LOL, but ended up joining hotforex and trying their demo after watcching ac\ couple of forex vids :smiley:

I started with forex trading. I have not traded other commodities like stock or gold or oil. Only currencies.

Forex all the way mate. I learnt it from a friend and I am sticking to it at the moment.

Straight into forex! Got hooked back in the days after a friend showed me his training company. I didn’t even know he was doing that. He gave me a few lessons for free and since then I never looked back.

I have never traded anything else either.

The only things I didn’t try to trade is option. For me Forex is my niche, I like is volatility, you can focus on 8 currencies and their cross pairs instead of thousands of stocks. It’s harder to trade, but the rewards is awesome.

I have started trading about one year with some brokers, now my trading is still growing. I think I would need a system to improve it effectively.

By the way, I don;'t consider forex trading as a good experience to put it into CV, except you’re trading very good.

Hi Dollace, I’m also new onto this industry. Regarding you training with some other brokers, did you pay them to teach you by any chance?

I started with Forex because you can trade even with small funds. If I will get bigger capital in the future I will diversify my investment at least with Bot and Stock.

That is the right approach in my opinion. I have something similar going on with my portfolio.

Yeah I also prefer the same approach. Important thing is to stay in the game

Yes I directly start forex trading and am very happy to do it. It is a great market to trade on comparing with stock market where you need big investments and had to wait longer for returns.

first thing i ever traded was forex, however I wish i came across forex when I was 17. I used to look up stocks only to come to realization that the return wasn’t as attractive.

I don’t often spend money for teaching, I do often study by myself through Google and forums. Almost good broker would offer you free Forex school or webminar like brokers I’m trading with: Hotforex, Fxpro.
