I followed some of their tips from thomson which is under reuters and got some of it correct but damn i lost a number of trades following them and these cost me all my profits but i still have my capital.

Never tried them, what are they exactly? Like tickers?
Snake, whether you follow a news service or not should be guided by your trading plan. If you trade fundamentals then it’s in your interest to know the news as quickly as possible as these will form the bulk of your trading signals. If you’re a technical trader, then all the information you need is in the charts and the only reason you need a news service is for their calendar of upcoming announcements so you can gauge future volatility.
I use Forex Factory for their calendar (make sure you set your timezone - click the clock at the top) and am cautious intraday trading through “red” news announcments that affect my pair as they can kick up big price movements.
