Do I have to pay taxes?

Hi everyone…

I live in Sweden but I always wondered… if I start trading Forex and CFDs do I have to pay taxes?
And if the answer is yes, how much?

Please help…

Mate, you’re in Sweden - my guess is Yes, and the tax rate will be about 150%. Probably payable in advance…

Hi Fxpro-7, welcome to BP.

The answer is yes, however there is a caveat - you have to make profit at year end before worrying about tax.

In Sweden it seems the rate is 30% on Nett Profit so something not to focus much on for now - instead first focus on the learning curve.

Thank you very much.

But how does it work!
Do I have to contact my broker and ask him for help or how do I pay these taxes!!
And if I didn’t make any withdrawals should I pay taxes on my capital gains as well?

Likely Swedish tax laws are similar to other EU countries.

CG tax is paid on gains realized.

Tax returns not the concern of the broker - instead the taxpayer completes his/her annual return.

Like I say - if you are new to trading there is a reasonable chance that you will not have to worry about tax for a few years - the learning curve can take a while.

Bon chance.

Hi. You might have to pay some taxes if you want to trade forex or CFDs from Sweden.
