When I first started trading, I was attracted to it by solicited and unsolicited promises from vendors that I could become rich through their strategies and speculation solutions. But what I experienced was totally different than what those vendors promised me. Success is possible in trading, but how to attain it isn’t what those vendors are saying. At the same time, we’re also afraid that if we tell people that trading isn’t easy and that it requires hard work and continuous persistence to succeed. That may scare them away. What do you think: tell people the truth about trading and possibly scare them away, or tell them what can attract them?
Do you think people flogging baldness cures and diet plans are going to change? Same tactics, same rationale.
Therein is the problem. You use the word “promises” a lot but a skilled marketer (or politician) doesn’t actually make you any promises. They say things “With this strategy you could earn 150% more!” or “This robot virtually guarantees you can double your investment!” They use weasel words and your mind against you. Politicians do the same thing with statements like, “Yes. We can fund this particular project.”
Then when funding is denied; they can just go back to the sentence and point out that they only said “Yes” as in acknowledging the speaker and that they COULD fund the project not that they WILL fund the project. Whenever I point this out there’s always people that insist it’s not how it works. But it is. A majority of politicians (in America anyways) have a law background; they all know that it doesn’t matter what you imply, it only matters what is actually said. That’s all that matters in a courtroom.
As for honesty? It is the best policy. Whenever someone asks me questions about forex I tell them it is a bunch of work and a continuous learning process because I don’t want to see them unnecessarily lose money. It’s not like it’s an industry that’s going away anytime soon (unless it’s legislated out of existence). If they’re not serious enough about researching everything properly and educating themselves then they are better off not being involved at all.
