hey guys,
Do you know where to learn and improve scalping skill? Any threads, gurus, courses, or membership? I seriously want to learn scalping, especially M1 or ticks (10,20,50, etc).
Thanks in advance.

The best school is real trading. Yo will learn more from that than any course IMHO. Trade demo to learn platform, then trade micros you will learn plenty and a lot about yourself u never probably knew.
For forex scalping, I strongly recommend “Forex Price Action Scalping: an in-depth look into the field of professional scalping” by Bob Volman - paperback, available from Amazon. I found this book far more helpful than any online information I found.
Trading in real account teaches a lot but a trader needs to have a good strategy to start with. You cannot just trading in your real account without any proper strategy because in this way you won’t learn any thing and only keep losing.
Lets cut through the bull and answer the question for the OP. Scalping is one of the simplest thing you can do. Step one, place a trade, step two wait for the trade to cross the spread. Step three close the trade. Wash, rinse, repeat. Anything else and well it’s not scalping.
The book recommended by lexys is my bible. But its not scalping. They are day trading techniques. It is a must you understand the difference. Scalping is a very unique an discipline way to trade. Also incredibly boring and has high trading costs. It takes 2 mins to learn and a life time to master. And it is nothing short of the mother of all headducks. We love it.
To learn you’ll need a live account. Demo’s will teach you bad habits. And you’ll need tick charts. Those trading off 1min and 5 min charts are just wasting time.
Best of luck with it bro.
Live accounts are best solution to learn any trading system , traders avoid direct start from live trading . They use demo to know some basic things and tools that are used. As in scalping they can learn method but true training and results will show on real trading as they will make much practice in it.
3xfx,
Thanks man. I’m a live trader (H4 and above), and now trying to find way to trade M1 or even ticks if possible. I have proper strategy for longer term, but not for short one.
Lexys,
Looks like a nice book, I’ll check it out, thanks!
Bobbillbrowne,
Thanks for the time to explain! Appreciate it very much, I never demo because like you said, it will train bad habits. But it all comes down to the trader himself. I know one man who could double his account in few days in Demo, but keep losing on real account
My goal is to take 5 pips - 10 pips per trade. with stops around 3-5pips, at least 2:1 RR. I will definitely check out your ‘bible’ book Thanks again!
Imbest,
Thanks mate, nice advise!
ChimpFX,
EA is not my food as I don’t trust them. but thanks for your link.
Guys, thanks for the time. Really appreciate it. What I need is a thread/book/source/link/course or something similar for improving (not trying to master it as it would take lifetime for it (bob’s)) scalping skills.
I will get the book right now for study. Thanks again, guys!
Scalping (in its retail forex interpretation) is grabbing small amount of pips in frequent trades. Usually scalping is not tied to particular instrument because it’s based on some patterns typical for any asset. I’m talking about breakouts, trends, price retracement, support and resistance levels, etc.
If you want to learn more about scalping techniques you should check scalping threads there on babypips, or have a look on this guide written by me Best scalping techniques for newbie traders – Trade with Kilka
Good luck!
Nice article but its generic and it’s not scalping. Not to dissimilar to what i do.
Now I use Bob Volmans box pattern break and here’s my interpretation of it but again its not scalping. Its a low frequency day trading syrategy and it has evolved over the past year even though the tread is inactive. But it works for me 301 Moved Permanently
Yeah, your trading reasonings are basically same to mine but I also noticed you mix it with fundamental features. That’s really great because sometimes I work on breakouts from NFP and other vigorous market moves too. I didn’t use any external trading knowledge or systems, just my own close market scrutiny and use of common sense :).

Hey Pipscalping,
Im a scalper, If there is just one peice of advice I could give you, is make your assumptions in tune with the bigger picture. You need to KNOW what EVERY SINGLE CURRENCY is doing at that moment.
Im not successful, I have to admit that. I have great days, then a bad day, then a great string of days, then a bad day. But getting better everyday.
I also have the book “Forex Price Action Scalping” by Bob Volman,But have yet to read it, but a few pages. Im not a good reader, but getting ready to dig into it. It was sent to me from a member here.
Ive struggled, but I have alot of crap going on around me, and difficult to concentrate at this time, In this house. You HAVE to have total, 100% concentration when you scalp.
Im close, I’ll tell you that much. I hit 45% Monday, then got whacked. Because I broke one of my rules.
Have a Plan, Follow the plan, build a routine, Follow the routine EXACTLY as its writen out.
Blah, Blah Blah, I know…
I think im going to write a book of this adventure, tryin to make a Dollar out of 15 cents,
Practice, Practice, Practice. Even just choose 1 type of trade for a week, ( Buy Only ) then next week Sell Only.
But like I said in the preface of this wind-up, Use a heat map or something that shows ALL currency strengths,
I use an MT4 Indicator called MADdash. I love it, and it updates every second.
Here is screen shot of what it looks like, and the NZDCAD chart to show the action. What this indicator does is measure the distance of a preset Moving average. In this example, I use SMA3, So every calculation you see is taken with this MA.
+1 on that one. There is not better way to learn!
His scalping essentials you’re talking about is one large sales gig. He simply takes charts from the past and makes analysis on them (what basically can do any newbie)
You’re completely right, of course. But I think it’s what most users of this forum are actually asking about when they use the word “scalping”? (In other words, in the overwhelming majority of such threads with “scalping questions”, the word is actually being misused, technically.)
Yes totally agree. Those clever little marketers have abused the term for their own benifit. Hate forex marketers.
Here is how Im scalping, The chart on the right side has all the currencies, and their relation to the SMA3, which shows the strength or momentum. You can see I have vertical lines that are different colors, and use them to mark the direction.
Im focused on EURGBP
I agree with most of the answers above. Trading real-time on a small live account is the best way to learn
May I ask what based you conclution from ?..
His sales gig is a fragment compare with other gurus
