As traders, we depend on our sleep a lot . It keeps your mind and body fresh so that you can focus on the next day’s trading. Our sleep cycle can get easily disturbed due to external factors as some of us juggle between jobs and have to take care of kids and parents 👩❤👨. As a result, many of us don’t get proper sleep.
Here what I try to do to get a good sleep, hope this could help you too:
1. Keep my room temperature comfortable.
If it is hot, go for cooler room temperature or else you may feel sleepy during night. If it is cold, make sure that there is enough heat in your room so that you don’t have any problem with body temperature and hence, falling asleep.
2. Avoid alcohol
Avoid drinking alcohol before going to bed at night as it may interfere with sleep patterns and cause insomnia which will negatively affect your whole day’s performance negatively.
3) Eat right
A regular, healthy meal, devoid of junk food, helps with falling asleep and staying asleep because it helps keep your blood sugar levels steady throughout the day. You could also try growing healthy vegetables in your garden as weekends are quite boring for some of us lol
Also, avoid heavy foods as this could cause digestion problems.
4) Turn off your gadgets on time
Turn off your phone and other electronic devices at least an hour before going to bed so they won’t ring while you sleep.
5) Avoid caffeine at night
Caffeine can help you stay alert while awake but it can keep you up at night as well. If you drink coffee or tea , limit yourself to one cup of coffee or tea and skip any other caffeinated beverages until noon (unless they are decaffeinated). I avoid chocolate bars, confections and some energy drinks too.
6 Have a fixed sleeping schedule
The best way to make sure you get a good night’s sleep is to prepare for it. Schedule some time to wind down, relax and get ready for bed. I prefer a warm bath, listen to soothing music or meditate before falling asleep.
