Does anyone else feel more anxious watching a winning trade than a losing one?

Weirdly enough, I get more nervous when my trade is green than when it’s red. I’m always scared I’ll lose the profit before I get to close it out. Sometimes it feels harder to manage that anxiety on a winning trade than on a losing one.
How can i handle?

Try taking the P&L out of the equation. Before entering, decide where you’ll exit if the trade works, where you’ll exit if it fails and what you’ll do if it stalls. Once the trade is open, manage the price action rather than the money. Also, stop watching every tick and set alerts and check at planned intervals.

There’s a saying that “holding a loss is easier than holding a profit”

When a trade is red, you don’t feel like you have anything more to lose emotionally since you already accepted the risk going in. But when it’s green, your brain starts treating that money as already yours, and the fear of losing what you have tends to be stronger than the fear of missing out on what you don’t have yet. That’s loss aversion, part of prospect theory, your brain reacts to “losing an existing gain” almost like an actual loss even though you’re technically still positive.

Focusing on price action instead of P&L is the right call :+1: , it helps separate emotion from the numbers and brings you back to evaluating whether the setup is still valid instead of how much money you’re currently holding.

Move to trade with EA and remove the emotion from trading.

That’s more common than you think. Set your take profit and stop loss levels before entering, then follow your trade plan instead of reacting to every pullback. Let your rules decide when to exit, not the fear of giving back profit.

Honestly, I think the fear of giving back profit can be stronger than the fear of taking a loss. Having a clear exit plan helps a lot.

When the trade is green i tend to overthink more because there’s money on the line, but if the trade is Red already then there’s nothing to fear because my trade is losing already. Thats why i use fixed Stoploss and take Profit, if the trade hits TP great, if it hits SL then I’ll learn something
