Dual Monitor

Hi, I am adding a 2nd monitor to my forex setup,

I understand I will need a new graphic’s card, the one I have will not do the job.

(1) Can any of you guys point me to a good Graphic’s Card that will run 2 monitors,

(2) Can I also ask, when the dual monitor setup is up and running, will my mouse be able to

glide from one monitor to another, I do-not want to have click something everytime I want to cross over to the 2nd monitor.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, and I have a Dual Core CPU, I think I have 2 gig of Ram.

Thank You

Kind Regards

Depends how much you want to spend. Most graphic cards will run 2 monitors pretty easily. My work PC is a dual monitor setup and I don’t think there’s any sort of fancy graphics card in it - think they just added some dual monitor card in the back. But if you want to get a decent graphics card that doesn’t break the bank the ATI 5770 would be a good choice. DX11 compatible and all that and costs about £130 or so. If you want to play some games also and have the cash to splurge a bit I’d go with the ATI 5870. Don’t know the size of your PC so check the dimensions of the cards before you buy and make sure they’ll fit into your PC ok - the 5870 is a pretty big card.

You don’t have to click anything to cross over to the 2nd monitor. It’s just an extension of your 1st monitor. You can drag and drop things over onto the 2nd screen.

i am also looking to add a second monitor, at the moment i have a laptop and a pc. you can buy external graphics card that plugs in to your USB 2.0 port that converts to VGA. they are around £50. I would tell you where to get them but likely i will be accused of advertising AGAIN! (like i could careless about driving trffic to another website!)

I dont think the picture quality is quite as crisp on some of these things. I dont know, i havent got one yet.

I’m pretty sure that I have in work what The Hoff is talking about. For your ordinary programs that you would be using for FX they work just fine. There’s no difference between documents, images, etc. on the 2nd monitor. The amount of graphical power needed to drive a 2nd monitor for those kind of things is pretty minimal.

Thanx Guys, this has helped me allot, at least now I know what to order.

Appreciated,

Kind Regards
Gary

Thanks, i was not sure if i should buy one of these or a graphics card, seems like this could be the easiest option and the cheapest.

thanks
