EA Optimization shows success but fails when set parameters

Anyone can help me understand why?? I don’t get it.

I’m speaking for MT4 platform. I had some inputs of an EA to be tested for Optimization. It was a long optimization. It freaking took 5+ days to complete it.

And when it finally finished and had my Optimization Results, I choose one that I liked with a decent profit and a pretty low DD. I clicked on “Set Input Parameters” and let it run on the same TF, dates, spread etc. Everything was the same.

But it totally crashed with stop out reducing my test balance to 0 even though testing on optimization nailed it. I re-run it to be sure and I got again the exact same crash results.

Any idea why? I feel like I can’t trust optimization results IN GENERAL after this epic fail!!

Do all the subsequent attempts to backtest the EA yield same results (same stop-out scenario)? If yes, it is definitely an issue with the data or settings of your first backtest. Something could go wrong because as you said it’d been running for 5 days, the risk of bugs seems high to me.
