I have been experimenting with trading the news and I noticed that the market will start moving in the direction that the news release implies about 4 or 5 minutes before the news is actually released.
Is there some way to get these releases earlier? If so, would someone please enlighten me. Please no post about how dangerous news trading is or how I am going to loose trading the news.
I just want to know how to get releases earlier.
Thanks,

in my opinion unless you are an insider at a bank or a have access to top secret information all news realeases are let out at the same time to avoid market manipulation. If news is expected and you wish to trade, what you are witnessing is just investors speculating in advance and switching positions. It also depends on your media source, Check out bloomberg tv which is usually on point and you can hear it first for yourself, there is also cnbc and msnbc. since i trade the guppy (gbp/jpy) I usually watch at 2am special global economics which focuses alot on currencies. Bottom line watch and listen to your fav news tv station and trade off of that…thats usually first since its live
Ragingbull,
Thank you for your advice. I am new to trading fundamentals. I tried technicals before but I don’t really feel very comfortable trading imaginary lines, expecially with so many ways a chart can be interpreted. With fundamentals, I feel like I am actually trading for a valid reason.
To follow-up on what raging bull said, the news events you would be looking to trade are presumably primarily the data releases and such. Those things are provided to the news organizations ahead of time, but embargoed until the official release time. No one would dare release the data early as it could very easily cost them access to the release all together.
as others said, there are no “pre-releases” of data. Some data,as you will see are more important than other ( e.g.: FOMC meeting minutes, Interest rate decisions, Non Farm Payroll (NFP) report ( USD PAIRS), unemployment data, etc.) Usually before these great announcements traders speculate and enter heavy ( a lot o units) positions for a short period of time. that couses volatility. It is NOT true that before the release price action is as it will be after the data had been released. you will find out that it has a 50:50 chance to be as you said. Sometimes it after the data the price action goes one way and after a few minute, 5 for example, reverses and goes strongly in the other direction ( turning your position red). That said, trading the news is particularly a matter of skill and sentiment. With retail platforms it is very difficult because during the news releases the spread is OFTEN larger, in fact so large that positions that are far away from the actual price are opened. So be aware af what you are going into. ( My personal davice is to try it first on a game account so you can “see” how it turns out).
P.S: you should really try to use both fundamental and techincal analisys to trade better. Fundamentals aren’t always right, nor are technicals, but together they increase your odds to be right in a trade. when you are not sure where the trade is about to go, well why did you enter in the forst place?

Thanks for all your comments.
What you have said makes sense and answers my questions. I would like to use technicals along with my fundamental analysis.
Which technicals go best with fundamental analysis? I am sure that question has a wide range of opinionated answers; however, any and all comments are welcomed.
Of course I am using a demo account. I do not believe in gambling. Maybe I will open a live account after a year. Or more likely whenever I make consistent profits.
Techincals depend on your trading style…I like to use volatility based indicators that help show the strenght of the trend (rsi) and I use moving averages to help me with direction or you may like bollinger bands to give visual ranges to trade within…really you have to find a indicator you can understand and work well with…there are 100’s of indicators to help with this… if anything try the cowabunga system its very basic and easy
