I’d like to know what the easiest way to journal effectively is?
I’m often not near a pc, but have an iPhone, is there an iPhone friendly way to journal?
What do others include in their journals?
I’d like to be able to access it from anywhere, as part of my trading plan is to take time out after a series of losses to analyse what went wrong, and as I said I often only have access to my phone.
Create “myfxbook” account and write down everything you want in the column “journal” (were your trades are displayed). You can now go back in time and see what you wrote down concerning that specific trade you took, what went right and what went wrong
I have an entry/exit strategy, so when i see an entry signal i take it, so i trade first then journal afterwards. The content of my journal is always about how i managed the trade, what i did right and what i did wrong throughout the life span of the trade. So every weekend i review my journal and i continue to memorize all the things i did right during the week and i try not to do the wrong things anymore (this is the difficult part, cause sometimes you must have done it before you remember oh! i made this same mistake last week). I guess the more you continue not to do wrong things the more it sticks to you, i guess that were experience comes in and this is what i’m building now
My honest opinion is that you don’t sound serious about trading. I often place bets on horses using my phone not so much trading. You don’t have access to a computer yet you want to journal trades. Worst case scenario you can write it down with a pen and paper. Nearly all phones have voice recording (not my kinda thing - already talk to myself enough).
I’m pretty serious thanks dan82au, it just that currently my workshop doesn’t have an Internet connection. I’m asking if it is possible to journal using an iPhone, and with services like myfxbook, it seems that there are indeed methods out there.
That is fine but I am against double handling. Assuming you place a trade through your iphone the statement from your broker is a lot more valid than myfxbook(though quite handy for statistics) - You can use a cloud services like google(just register a regular gmail account) which is a lot more mobile friendly and being a cloud solution easier to access from multiple platforms so easier to synchronize when you do have access to a computer. Depending on your trade frequency a spreadsheet is always a better option for a trade journal. It will allow you to sort by fields more easily (dates,win,loss,p/l etc…). My 2c.
I’ve seen there is a spreadsheet functionality in the Google Drive app, although I haven’t explored its full ability yet.
I guess I need to try out a few things to see what works best. As I am still very new to forex (Aug 2012), it is a case of allowing all the new information to fall into place, and then build systems around it.
