should be fine, but why would you want to do this, since there is no trading on Saturday anyway. You don’t need the code that limits trading on friday or closing trades on friday if you are going to change to saturday.
Plus, if you don’t want the friday option, just leave the T/F on False.
Ha ha. This really gets you guys. The market closes 1600 hrs USA. EST on YOUR Friday afternoon but, 1600 hrs EST for you on Friday is 0700 hrs on Saturday morning for me. I don’t want to HAVE to get up that early to close trades if I can have the EA do it. ( I am often up at 5 but that is not the point) Normally I leave trades open on the weekend but coming to Xmas and summer holidays I will shut down manually but want to have the new EA correctly shut down at the end of the trading day/week, IF desired. I am running demos and will have a whole new setup come into play after New Year. It might seem a little picky but I like to get things to fuction correctly as per instruction.
As I understand the EA it takes my local time, not the platform and not GMT/UTC or whatever.
I had made the change in 24a but then we switched to 24c and I never got to making the change as I opted to let trades run on the weekend. Now I am about to change 25 and want to get everything right - for me.
I really do appreciate your efforts on this and wish I was savvy on mql but at now age 74 I really don’t want to get back into writing code - I was good on GWBasic in the early 80’s but that was a few days ago.
Best regards and have a good Xmas break.
I think having it at local time would be way better. If one changes brokers to one of the wildly various times on MT4 platforms then I’m sure many would be confused. MT4 has day start times all over the place GMT, GMT + 1, GMT + 2 but everyone knows what their local time is and when the market closes in relation to their own time.
Wigglez, that sunday bar is actually a monday bar My broker is GMT+2 as well.
Forex opens at 5:00pm EST, or 1700 est on Sunday night for us. BUT, at 5:00pm EST, that’s 9:00AM in Sydney, Australia when that market opens…which is actually the beginning of the Monday candle, not Sunday. You still get 5 candles if your broker closes Friday night. Technically, Forex never closes, hence we get a ‘gap’ when the brokers resume.
Trading this method, I use every candle that opens and closes, regardless of which day it is.

Here is some good news after James fixed the Wicks EA (i am now using v25) my trades with the EA are resbling your manual trades more.
i know v25 is using you’re old rules so im not expecting yout manual trades and the EA to be trading the same but i think the EA should br reliable and yhats why its performance has been a bit mixed.
Looks like the Wicks EA is back in the game so far today and friday i have 5 trades all profit if i did not close one early on frifay stupidly
I still haven’t switched over to v25, still on 24.c due to my laziness lol. It opened 4 trades last night, 1 hit the BE and retraced for 5 pip gain (GBPUSD) and the AUDUSD is still in play, and has hit the BE, much like my manual trade above.
USDCAD and NZDUSD are the other two still pending. 24.c is working good again, the BEs are perfectly. Weird
I’ll get v25 set up tonight.
not sure for all of you, but my MT4 recently updated, so maybe this accounts for the strange behavior changes. Maybe Metaquotes realized there was some internal function call issues. Anyway, v25 “manually calculates” instead of using built in function, but outcome should be the same, if v24 works correctly.
Will get to workon v26 with latest changes by Windsor soon.
Well, I’m done until Jan 2. Then I will start 24c and 25 on maybe 6 platforms each and oh gosh, if Jim comes up with 26 I’ll have to install another 6.
Everyone have a good Xmas break.
Cheers,
AltosT
Ok, here is the first shot at it. Follows Windsor’s post a few days back whith his screenshots for rules.
Re-wrote the code, much simplified. Got rid of all the fluf we added early on thinking every little tweak would make it more profitable, when after it was all done, the default was the best.
I backtested on EURUSD and EURGBP, but my data only goes back to Sept, so certainly not a definitive test, but seems to be working at the moment.
I think, as Windsor suggested, the fib values are too close, and it kills some of it’s profits. I tried the GBPUSD with 100 pips between all the fib settings with better results, but on eurusd, it was worse. Par for the course. Sandy Beach, you should redownload this, added some protection for OrderModify errors I was getting on lower time frames I tried.
Oh ho, love it. Up goes more platforms. Once I have sorted who seems to be the best broker I will start penny real acounts to confirm. Then we will know if someone is padding the demo’s.
