Cool thanks, its interesting how with this strategy it does seem to work well on most pairs for everyone.
Do you find running the EA on 25 pairs the good trades help to hedge and balance out the losers ?
PS I apologise for so many questions

Iām giving a try this strategy. It seems like a trend following system. May I ask you if the rules need traderās discretion or they are mechanical?
And if traderās discretion is needed, what do you look before placing a trade?.
Thanks
I think the point of trading the basket of 25 of the eight majors is that you pick up all the correlated pairs that move at any one time. If some negative correlations move also. you again pick those up too. My view is that we donāt really know which pairs are going to move so this way we cover them all. The weakness is that if we get a flat market we could die a death of a thousand cuts. But I think having the entire market flat for any length of time is a very small risk and any DD will be amply covered when things move again. I think the minimum fib move though will minimise any flat market effect. Just my view, I have done no specific analysis to support it but time will tell.
Cheers.
found an error, forgot to include candle direction on sell side. will upload a new version soon.
You are doing excellent work Jim. I once spent three days examining code and finally found it to be simply a comma misplaced. I certainly appreciate your efforts.
thanks, nice of you to say.
Hereās the fixed EA.
Do this EA works with the System2 - wicked wicks that are in the first page? Or has another rules?
Thanks.
Not quite, read the last 10 pages or so where Windsor has come back into the picture with improved settings.
I did some backtests on this strategy on GBPJPY (to begin, I will do with all majors and crosses).
I tested with the move to BE+5, move at 161.8 and so on, and also tested with the first to moves of the stops and with only the move to BE+5.
So far the best result was without the first two moves of the stops.
From 2011/02/01 to 2012/12/20 the strategy gave a 69.23 % winners on shorts, 73.33 % winners on longs, for a net 71.43 % winners and 28.57 % losers.
35.68 % increase in the equity
Profit factor of 3.10
With a simulated base of 10,000 USD I got this results:
An average profit of $263
An average loss of $212.44
Net profit of $3,568.00
Max Drawdown of $1059.26 (or 9.14 %)
The risk I used on the evaluation is 2 % per trade, and I can aggregate trades if the signals are given, so I can have 1 or more shorts at the same time, and some times I can have shorts and longs at the same time.
I cancel all the pending orders when a new pending order is placed, but I leave the running orders intact until the SL closes them.
Windsor essentially restated the method here: 301 Moved Permanently
but later added the current candle must be in direction of the trade, and the fib distance between 110% and 131.8% be >= 10 pips. so that was added to the code. The EA closes each pending order on new candle and forms new fib, and if qualified, new pending order.
It leaves any open order running to stop out, using the fib stop levels.
Have set up multiple demos for Wednesday start with both 24c and 27. We saw such large variation in our last ārunā on demoās. I will post a link when I see they are going OK and go live when it seems right to do so, that could easily be some little time if January is a slow month. If Windsor or anyone else trading it live can keep us posted on how the demo results seem to compare, I for one would be grateful.
Heya i dont mean to be picky but of the EA i would recomend v25 for Windsors old rules (as it has some bug fixes over v24) and 27a for Windsors new rules.
i havr these running on seperate accounts so eill be interesting to see how our results compare
Great work so far James, sorry I havenāt gotten around to d/ling Skype yet, what with the holidays and all. I still need to update to v27a.
Also note, the min fib distance between 110 and 131 should be 15 pips or higher and not 10 pips. For GBPJPY I suggest 35-40 pip min distance. Sorry for the mixup. Maybe you can add it to the EA where you can set the minimum distance again?
Youāll notice with this strategy, things will stay relatively quiet until a trend begins, then boom, a big increase in balance, then again itāll go back to a quiet phase until the next trend.
So far since I started using the EA we havenāt seen a trend in the pairs Iām using. Iām up 3.8% (169 pip profit) though with those 3 pip break even trades. I also think I closed all open trades when I moved from v24 to a higher version so that accounts for the larger amount of pips
https://www.fxjunction.com/profile/windsorftw/A/trades
Up +93 pips from last nights trades. Hope that GBPUSD starts a big move.
Iām loving the results so far James, keep up the good work!
I think we have a keeper here.
Happy near year everyone!
Darn it - Didnāt notice 27a. Am running with 24c because we saw what it did last year. 25 I donāt know how it will go but I will put another account up with 25 for comparison - maybe just in case 27a doesnāt do what we expect.
Thanks - 27a got by me. Distracting time of year.
Iām afraid I canāt keep track either. I just make what people say, so check with SandyBeach for versioning. What does what. As I recall, v25 was to correct 24c because for some reason, Metatrader stopped responding to itās own internal function of proift or something, so I made v25 to manually make the calculation. Then, again, for unknown reasons, Metratrader started working correclty again, and 24c is working again. Donāt even remember if thereās a v26, but 27a is the latest with Windsorās new rules.
Note @ Windsor, v27a does have a setting for the fib distance, using his term āMin_Fib_Distanceā that you can set to whatever you want for the pips between fib 110% and 131.8%.
Good luck.
Thanks Jim - you do really well. I think you are correct in your last post but I think it prudent to run 24c also because I for one have history on it. I will be putting a 25 up though on a same broker platform and we will see what happens.
Thanks for all the hard work James, I finally d/led skype last night and got it set up and running. Iām stuck at work for the day and with my kids home this week I havenāt been able to hop on my computer at night. Next week though should be back to normal (thank goodness) and weāll hopefully be able converse a little easier.
Thanks, cheers.
Happy new year everyone!
yep thats the advantage of v25
