Hah ! Yes. It is a stop loss EA. If there is no trade open then there cannot be a stop.
Using a demo account, open an order on any pair buy or sell does not matter. Then apply the EA to that pair with Experts switched off. Have a look at the internal option settings and adjust the SL value/values to an appropriate level for the trade you have opened - click the Experts tab in the top “Tools” line to ON (Green) and everything should be working. Appreciate this is a daily system so the SL is often quite large. It should normally be set at the zero line of the fib tool two, or three if you count the current, bars back from the bar that opened the trade. Just read the rules - that will explain all.
Hmmm ok, thanks Alto, I’ll have a look in a couple of hours when I get home. Hopefully this is the solution…
Alright. Got home and have had a play with MT4 and this EA. It appears I may have got it working, although I won’t know for sure until it actually triggers a trade at the 110 fib line.
What I did was in the navigator window on the bottom left of the screen, under the submenu “expert advisors” I right clicked on the Movestopexpert EA, then clicked on “attach to chart”. Now I can right click on the actual chart, and the submenu for Expert Advisors is no longer greyed out.
The Sell Stop consists of the following. I’ve set it to enter the trade at the 110 Fib, which is at 1.01931, the stop loss is at the 0.0 Fib, which is at 1.02461, I’ve left the take profit blank.
What I’ve now done is placed a sell stop order based off the AUD/USD daily chart from today. I’ve gone into the Expert Advisors properties menu, and gone into the “Inputs” tab at the top. Under the Variables title/column, there are three sub-headings; Order TicketNo, Target1, MoveStop To.
Based off the initial instructions provided, I’ve inputted the following data into this EA inputs menu:
Order TicketNo: 7312276 (Which is the TicketNo of the Sell Stop pending order sitting in my Trade window at the moment).
Target1: 1.01829 (Which is the 131.8 Fib line)
MoveStop To: 1.01936 (This is the 110 Fib line +5 pips as the new stop)
I’ve hit save and ok. Now I’m waiting… lol.
Does what I’ve done sound right to you guys? Anyway of actually knowing if the EA is going to work once the Sell Stop order is triggered?
Ok, so any word on the latest EA version? Are the demo tests going well? Are there still bugs? Just wondering, since I would really like to try out the new EA version(s).
*Facepalm. Just realised the MoveStopExpert smilie face on the top right of the chart. EA must be working then
And here’s a shoddy picture of the Sell stop trade I have going:
Please note, this is more of a test trade than anything, although I do believe the entry criteria have been somewhat satisfied…
Sell stop order was triggered yesterday at the 110 Fib, then retraced a bit. Here is the latest situation before the weekend.
We’ll see how we go on Monday…
The latest…
I’m actually a little surprised as I thought it was going to find some serious support at the 1.01600 level… Fetching a decent sum of pips here.
Hey all, sorry I’ve been out of commission for 2 weeks with a whicked bout of pneumonia…
Anyone catch that great GBPUSD trend a week ago? I have two trades and I think they both hit the 500.0 fib mark, guaranteeing me a nice amount of pips…
The EA is still being worked on and as far as I can see several improvements have been made and hopefully we can get it to you all soon.
Cheers
Good to hear from you again Windsorftw, hope you’re feeling much better!
Here’s another “test” trade I took yesterday. Yes I know I haven’t followed the rules here, as in I’ve placed the trade with the previous candle closing below the 50 SMA and bullish. But I still want to see if this EA is working, plus happy that there is major support at the 1.01931 region.
As usual, buy stop order placed for triggering at the 110 fib level, EA settings modified to move stop as we go up (hopefully). Order was placed, but price dropped back soon after, which is to be expected.
Just an FYI - probably been corrected already, and I wouldn’t know where to look to see what caused it.
The EA opened a trade in CAD/JPY this morning where it hasn’t set the stoploss. The rules appear to have been followed - I haven’t paid much attention to that Running ver 27c.
Right now the EA has 11 open trades and 2 pending orders. Overall quite happy with the results - some days/months are better than others.
Hang on, there’s an EA that places trades automatically…?
Yup, although the one already posted was a bit buggy - occasionally placed screwed up stop losses, potentially leading to larger than expected losses. jbentz is working on a newer one without bugs. Hopefully it will be finished soon.
What happened with the filter for this great strategy? Anyone? We have to make something to avoid the false break of 50EMA like this one: :33:
Wow cool concept. Will surely follow some.
With any good strategy - their will be loosing trades. A good system will win more than it looses in the long run. I can pick out 3-4 trades in the past month that were ‘big’ losers. But overall this system (27c) is performing quite well IMO. To be able to put a system on 20+ pairs and let it do it’s work is good for me - I have the patience of a 2yr old
Thanks again to everybody who is developing the EA and all their hard work.
Good to hear! Although I’m still not sure if the MoveStopEA is working for me lol. Have yet to have it move a stop… Hoping the current trade I have gets high enough to trigger the EA.
Gangnam, remember that like with any system, doesn’t matter how good your analysis and system are, you going to get losing trades. Although I’d hazard a guess and say some pivotal news came out for that massive drop you’ve highlighted.
I still believe some trader specific knowledge needs to be applied when using this system. Take for example my recent “practice” trade I’ve been documenting. I placed the trade with the candles below the 50EMA. Yet if we look back, we can see a significant area of support. I was confident that with economic news data being released, if the price didn’t break through, it would bounce back, which is what ended up happening.
Here’s the latest:
Hoping I can confirm the EA is working soon!
Ok it appears the EA is working…? My trade was closed out at 1.03085 which is basically the 131.8 fib line -5 for a stop. Looks like the EA triggered and moved my stop to the 131.8 Fib line - 5. But then the price dropped back down, triggering my stop loss and closing my order…
A little annoyed, what are you guys using as a move for the stop? the 131.8 fib - 50 pips to keep in the trend?
Ok everyone, i know you all have been patient. Here is the latest version of the EA. The reason it has been a long time as we have gone through numerous versions and sometimes even a few revisions of the EA in a single day, so rather than annoy and confuse everyone a few of us have been testing the EA.
Now we believe it is bug free and this is the final edition but as a word of warning please test the EA on your demo account first before going live to ensure it performs as you expect.
Now just as we have not found any bugs does not mean you guys don’t spot them, so if you see anything odd or weird please let us know so we can look into it.
Please disregard all versions previous to this and if you have any problems with any version of v32 please do not mention them, try v32 and see if it is fixed as v32 fixes all the known problems.
If you do say “oh this isnt working im using v29c etc” you will be told “use v32” and no bug hunting will be done on versions prior to v32.
I WILL SAY THIS AGAIN, USE THIS EA ON YOUR DEMO ACCOUNT TO BEGIN WITH, IM QUITE HAPPY THIS EA IS BUG FREE AND THERE ARE NO ERRORS WITH IT, BUT IF YOU SPOT ANYTHING PLEASE POST YOUR RESULTS, IF WE HAVE A FEW WEEKS OF TRADING WITH NOBODY REPORTING ANY FAULTS, THEN WE ARE GOOD TO SAY THIS EA IS DONE, DUSTED AND IS THE FINAL VERSION
More importantly though i wanted to say a big thanks to James who has worked damned hard on this EA as i know some of the issues have been a major pain to work through, so thanks James.
Also thanks to everyone who has tested this EA and spotted bugs etc, and Windsor for this awesome strategy.
Right thats it, go download and enjoy.

Just want to say a HUGE thanks to Sandy, James and Windsor. You guys have dome some great work here. I will backtest and forward test on Alpari UK and let you know how it goes.

thanks
