Economic Calendar - Typos, Bad links, etc

As I’m going thru the calendar, I’m finding more stuff, so rather than a thread for each, I, and anyone else, can update any future issues here.

11/9 USD IBD Consumer Optimism

Source
TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics (TIPP)

Definition
Investor’s Business Daily (IBD)‘s monthly survey on around 900 consumers that measures the consumers’ economic outlook.

Frequency
Monthly

Why should I care?
Consumer optimism is directly related to consumer spending, which makes up a large part of a country’s economic activity.

Source
Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)

Definition
The difference in value between New Zealand’s imports and exports. A positive trade balance (trade surplus) means that exports are higher than imports, while a negative trade balance (trade deficit) indicates higher imports than exports.

Frequency
Monthly

Why should I care?
Aside from its possible impact on local production and employment, export demand is also linked to currency demand because buyers from other countries usually pay in the exporters’ local currency

Is New Zealand a typo?

Hey Sweet Pip,

Thanks for bringing these up to our attention. We’ve corrected the typo you pointed out and removed the link too!

Thank you for helping us out!

Anne

I’ve been going through the economic calendar today, focusing on the USD & JPY events, and I don’t know if they are supposed to be like they are, or not, but they don’t seem quite right.

For example on 11/14 JPY Industrial Production (Final) it only has the “OlsenScale” info…not anything else to explain what it’s all about.

Not only that one…JPY Capacity Utilisation a 2nd (???) JPY Industrial Production (Final) …which shows a scale from 2005/6???.. and 11/15 JPY BOJ MPC Interest Rate decision… as per below

bojmpcdecision.bmp (1.14 MB)

Also, it seems if you click on either the “History” or “OlsenScale” tabs, and then try to go back to another tab, nothing happens…you have to exit out of this screen and go back in.

Hey Julie!

We’ve been looking at our calendar trying to figure out what’s causing this. We’ll have to get in touch with our engineers to try and figure out what’s wrong and how we can solve this.

I’m sorry you’ve been encountering these calendar issues. If I can fix them with a snap of a finger, I really would’ve done that for you! We’re just really thankful we have you to point them all out to us.

We’ll definitely be doing more investigation on this and as always, will keep you updated.

Thanks again!!
Ananais

Hi there,
Any chance the “Description” tab will get added to all news releases? This is handy and so many are missing.
Thanks!
