Economic Calendar

Here are some snips from a great article posted by John Kicklighter earlier today…

“Hawkish remarks by Fed officials heighted the appeal of the US dollar Monday and led the reserve currency to advance against all of the major currencies expect for the British pound.”

“New York Fed President Timothy Geithner and Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher stoked speculation that the Fed may raise the benchmark interest rate this year as they called for tighter monetary policy in order to stave off upside inflation risks.”

“Fed chatter helped curb a follow through from Fridays plunge.”

My question is this - how can I get an advanced notice of public speaking engagements for the likes of the NY Fed President or the Dallas Fed President? If Helicopter Ben was speaking, it would likely be on this forum’s excelent economic calendar. But, the market obviously made some substantial moves today when lesser Fed officials made speeches. How can I get a heads up on these events?

Pips, I use the calendar on, cough, another forum - forexfactory. Babypips admins, please don’t shoot me…

It has - as far as I’m aware anyway - all the speaking engagements by the Feb and the ECB, from Trichet down to the tea-boy. Well, nearly anyway. So today had Bernanke, Fisher, Minkin. Don’t usually pay attention to any of them, except they’ve all decided to come out the woodwork today to tell everyone not to panic. I feel reassured…!

Awesome! Thanks for the reference.

There is an economic calendar at the bottom of this website:
