" The EU’s Chief Brexit Negotiator Admits Britain Was Right - YouTube"
Interesting to watch “the EU” falling apart !
Politicians looking for votes - Barnier quoted by Reuters on March 31:
“For many people the real consequences of the referendum are only now starting to sink in,” Barnier told an event in Switzerland via video link from Paris. “The reality, which has become clear for all to see, is that Brexit means recreating trade barriers that had not existed for 47 years,”
The thing about the trade barriers is actually correct - exports from UK to DE down 11% in q1 and q2 this year (1st time since 1950) - other way round and they are marginally up - trading in DE with UK now in 11th place - was 5th before the vote.
Reason? - zilch do with politics, UK sme’s have little experience with customs red tape -and it’s a minefield big time - right now every product in and out of GB goes through this minefield and it costs money to navigate - suddenly we become less competitive.
Answer? - it’s simple - politicians please ditch the customs rules.
Andrew Neil is making the news recently instead of his usual reporting it.
Thought this post of his yesterday was thought provoking and even entertaining:
Galt is acknowledged to be a philosopher and inventor; he believes in the power and glory of the human mind, and the rights of individuals to use their minds solely for themselves. He serves as a highly individualistic counterpoint to the collectivist social and economic structure depicted in the novel, in which society is based on oppressive bureaucratic functionaries and a culture that embraces mediocrity in the name of egalitarianism, which the novel posits is the end result of collectivist philosophy.
That is what you get when someone tries to answer a question by Googling and finding a jumble of words penned by someone else who has never read the book either !
You ought to try it - It was written by another whose first language is not English and you may find it helps you with your Grammar, Spelling and Vocabulary as well as challenging you to actually think in complete thoughts
Watched a bit of what we call here ‘yer man’s’ video but kinda boring, came to the conclusion he’s posting for the youtube revenue.
I mentioned back about 4 months re the shortage of HGV drivers, the RHA have been flagging it and Boris’s Govt ridiculed them for scare mongering. Today he acknowledged that the Govt was aware of the problem but what did they do - zilch.
The NI agriculture minister (Poots DUP) asked Boris to allow in South American butchers to NI to help with Christmas demand - won’t happen, Boris says policy is no more cheap foreign labour - industry has to pay the rate and get locals to do the work.
Not sure whether the PM ever tried to get a incentivized workforce from the job center but who knows.
Speaking to one of NI’s largest hauliers this week - he sent over to 6 drivers at a cost of £1k per man per week - drop in the ocean I know.
Leastways seems the army will come to the rescue next week - and maybe get those ah’s with their insulate banners off the road at the same time
thanks for the advice
