Facebook is banning the ads of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, initial coin offerings (ICOs) and binary options across its network and partnering sites, according to their announcement.
According to the new company policy, “ads that promote financial products and services that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices, such as binary options, initial coin offerings and cryptocurrency“ are prohibited. The ban will apply to all platforms of the company, including Facebook, Audience Network that places ads on third party apps, and Instagram.
I am not at all surprised, to be honest, a lot of bucketshops look for victims on Facebook.
Good to see that this has happened
At this point that’s the best solution. As I said, a lot of bucketshops look for victims there.
Maybe over time they’d ease the ban and allow the legitimate companies to advertise themselves, but it will take some time to sort them all out.
Yeah! I agree that this is a good thing. Many people just believe anything on Facebook, to the extent that it has become the source of information for a lot of people I know. If it wasn’t for BabyPips forums, I would have probably been a victim. Lol
I know, right?
I got burned by scammers long before I discovered Babypips, so I didn’t trust anything I saw on FB, but unfortunately a lot of people do that.
The ones on FB have ridiculous promises, really making it look like you couldn’t lose. Lol. Well, at least now we know better.
There is, in general, a lot of deeply unethical advertising in the trading industry. People who have some expereince have learned to recognize that, newbies though take such ads at their face value, even when the ad isn’t issued by a scammer.
FB is also testing a downvote feature. If that goes mainstream, maybe that will help filter out some of the noise as well.
I saw. On the other hand, it’s a tool that can add even more negativity to a site that already has a lot of negativity in the way people interact. I don’t know how I feel about this idea.
This is very interesting!
But I think I have to agree with @mlawson71 on this. I’m not really sure what to feel about it too since Facebook is already one of the most toxic places already. Like, I could really see so many people misusing these new features for selfish gains.
“…That could eventually lead to a way for Facebook to bury these comments, or the people that post them. However, this will only open up more questions about censorship and what qualifies as inappropriate at a time when Facebook is already struggling to manage its responsibilities…”
Another step towards the complete removal of free speech and towards a society which is intolerant of diverse views IMO.
Another good reason to live life WITHOUT “Facebook”

Facebook is banning stuff all the time, at some point, the only things you will be allowed to post are gay porn and cute cat videos, then they will ban the cat videos
I choose not to post anything on Facebook, there is no upside and lots of downside, Facebook is full of trolls that do nothing but look lives they can destroy.
Facebook is a private company, free speech laws don’t apply to them, only to the government. Now that said, censorship makes any company look bad, even if it’s not illegal.
I don’t know, on one way is good, on other is not. for example I found ad on fb and I have good experience with the platform and service… but maybe I was just lucky!
If you trusted the ad without further research than you are, indeed, lucky. If you looked into it further on your own then it was not a matter of luck, I think.
Seem to get them everywhere.
Such people really are everywhere, which is why, I think, companies shouldn’t give them more tools to torment innocents.
Sad state of affairs when peopel can not refrain from life wrecking of their own accord.
yeah i think you are right.
Hahahah, @Dennis3450 imagine if that happens… Anyway, I really hate all kinds of ads, I find them very annoying and never trust them. That’s a fair move from the Facebook company.
@mlawson71, if you wish to share what happened, how did you get scammed? Was it a regular bucket shop or a more reputable broker?
