False sense of privacy from creating a new btc receive address each transaction?

I’ve learned that when you receive money to your Bitcoin wallet, it will create a new receive address each time. The purpose is to protect your privacy. But I wonder if this only gives unexperienced users a false sense of privacy, because anyone can easily go to blockchain’s website and enter the address they sent the btc to, then see which wallet the money was forwarded to. It takes 1 extra second for the adversary to find out the address of your wallet, instead of just the receiving address.

Or have I misunderstood how this works?
