This will probably sound like the most ridiculous question on here 
When you are looking at a live chart, is it showing me the base or quote currency, I think its currency, but want to check or be put right.

Its showing the exchange rate between the two currencies, where the base currency (the first), has a value of 1. So, for EUR/GBP, the exchange rate is 1 EUR buys 0.89 GBP, so the chart shows 0.89 divided by 1 = 0.89.
Sometimes if we open a long position on a pair such as EUR/GBP, we say we are buying EUR, but we’re not buying anything really, its just a bet.
