The sort of ‘gene pool’ that was available to ‘bestow’ these awards on would appear to be very limited!!!
As far as GCI goes though:
I DO know that they have always had their head office in Belize BUT only non-US and non-Canadian residents can open accounts with them so the bulk of their clients would BE in Europe I suppose and, if memory serves me correctly, they do have another registered office in Europe. Truth be told: I’m very happy with them so I’ve no complaints. That said: I trade with two other brokers and one of them is by FAR superior AND ‘SMACK BANG’ in the MIDDLE of Europe and they didn’t even ‘feature’ but then again they did not appear on the list of ‘exhibitors’ so: again I can only imagine that the ‘winners’ were picked form the list of ‘exhibitors’. Of course then there IS the question of WHO ‘voted’!!! While I’ve got NO complaints about GCI and have never had any issues at all with them: I’m in the minority I assure you (although I have to qualify this statement and say that for the most part the bad reports about GCI are made either by people who don’t KNOW what they’re doing or have lost money trading or both. You know the type: try to ‘scalp’ a major news event and their stop order gets ‘slipped’ and they cannot understand WHY and blame the broker)!!! So I can only assume that the ‘votes’ were NOT cast by individual traders (if there was a ‘vote’ at ALL come to think of it i.e. maybe there were just some ‘judges’ at the events themselves)???
As far as Alpari goes: I’ve never traded with them but I’ve seen very FEW bad reports about them. I have to agree with you about their website though. That said: it’s by no means the worst I’ve seen but whether or not it’s worthy of an award is a debatable point!!! I mean: I don’t think it compares to the likes of MY broker IN EUROPE!!!
What I found interesting though (and why I used the word ‘heavyweight’ in my first post) was that InterbankFX, for example, didn’t ‘feature’ apparantely. This was surprising to me (and they’re not one of my brokers and never have been) because they are VERY popular by the looks of things.
MISSING of course from the list of ‘exhibitors’ are the REAL ‘heavyweights’ like CMC Markets, Citi, Currenex, you know the ‘type’ I’m talking about.
So yes: while I’m quite ‘proud’ that GCI is an award winner I’m not TOO sure of the ‘merit’ of such award!!!
I’ve been TRYING to find more information as to HOW or WHY i.e on what BASIS the awards were ‘bestowed’ but I’ve not managed to find anything yet. At best, from what I gather, this is a ‘worldwide expo’ and MAY have different award winners in different countries depending on where the expo was held i.e. in which country / continent / region. That said: I see FXCM was an award winner IN RUSSIA so maybe these ARE INDEED the sort of ‘FINAL WINNERS’. I’m not sure. All I know is this: at least if you ever HAVE a problem then the award winners at VERY least have a bit of a reputation to uphold!!!

(By the way: with the amount of live accounts I ‘wiped out’ at GCI when I first started out they should have MY name on the list of ‘sponsors’ for the event)!!! LOL!!!

What WOULD make me ‘feel better’ is IF I could connect to the website forexexpo.com which is CLEARLY identifiable on the link above but the home page is generating a .php script error!!!
