Hi everyone. I just wanted to ask what happens to your trade when the expiration date comes when trading futures. Perhaps for some reason you don’t close the trade because your strategy tells you the move isn’t over yet. Is your broker gonna close the position or it will carry over to the next date?
Don’t trade futures until you know exactly what will happen. You may find yourself having to store a hundred thousand barrels of oil close to Texas City Oil Refinery !

Your broker should give you a heads up that expiration is pending. If you don’t sell, they will close the order for you automatically. I won’t roll over nor will you have to take delivery.

There is no point in investing in futures when you don’t have any idea about what you are doing.
