Can someone please advise whether FXCM are reliable, what negative experiences you have, strengths and weakness and unusual practices if any.

I am signing up to FXCM after terrible experiences with FXPro. I like some aspects of their algo trading software but the customer service is terrible and I have had strong support and assistance from FXCM sales in the UK. In the process of building a gateway trading platform to FXCM via its connect service. Will post more soon.
You’ll get your questions answered at FXCM. After all these years FXCM is one of the brokers that still stands. All brokers will have their issues, just understand that this will be the case. Should you have continuous problems you can always change to someone else.
