Interesting to read today that net migration to Britain has hit 504k - the highest on record.

Also interesting to see that more EU citizens left the UK than came in - so the high numbers cannot be blamed there.

Nigel Farage promised less immigration rather than more if we ‘take back control’ of our borders.

Wonder what is going on since all these new immigrants are legal - likely no numbers for the illegal.

Q: How can you tell if a country doesn’t have an immigration policy?

A: Its a country with half a million new immigrants which still has more unfilled job vacancies than job-seekers.

But: At least this government can’t be accused of being xenophobic. Just incompetent.

Seems these new immigrants are not permitted to work under UK law, but same law states that benefits must be paid.

At the same time the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) are reporting a huge worker shortage.

Difficult to square this circle - locally hospitality closing early in the week due to lack of staff yet just over the border in EU land on a Wed evening we had difficulty in getting a table.

A strange world that we live in.

Asylum-seekers cannot work, but that’s just a fraction of the immigrant total.

There’s lots to not understand about immigration because no politician has for years dared or wanted to talk rationally about it, nothing has been done to engage with the voters. The media have been no help, just focusing on dramatic clips of bedraggled boat people.

Hugely emotive subject with no easy answers - just questions.

Happened that back in the day my local MP was Enoch Powell - long story but he ended up here because the Tories ejected him.

Was he right in his predictions on immigration and rivers of blood?

My own opinion is that he was from a different time and era - bit like Alf Garnett in that we all laughed.

My next-door neighbour is from Poland - the only time I see him is Sunday for a few mins - rest of the time he is working.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes

UN Pushes To Criminalize Opposition To Mass Migration

The UN pushes the mantra that Sustainable Development is only possible in a multi-cultural society, which guarantees the elimination of the nation-state. However, immigration is only pushed toward First World countries, like Europe and the United States. ⁃ TN Editor

Levers Of Power

In a press conference, de Graaff raised the alarm over an international conference in Marrakech, Morocco on Dec. 11 and 12 where the U.N. Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is to be signed. Though the pact is said to be non-binding, it is meant to establish the groundwork for an Orwellian campaign to cement mass migration as a human right legally above any and all criticism.

“One basic element of this new agreement is the extension of the definition of hate speech,” de Graaff says. “The agreement wants to criminalize migration speech. Criticism of migration will become a criminal offense. Media outlets that give room to criticism of migration can be shut down.”

Horrifying.

There is a difference between a country’s power and the world’s power, where countries agree to follow even if it means their demise.

The solution that seems simple to fix for a country’s government is not so simple when they follow the rules of another powerful entity

In the last 50 years, despite all the cries about mass immigration and all the politicians on both sides of the isle who came and went, stopping mass immigration never received the support or backing it needed to change course. you guys never thought about that.

As a matter of fact, it has gotten worse

Also, you have the scenario where you made your own bed and now you have to lie in it. Clearly, mass immigration to the west has been reshaping these countries and is so difficult to stop

Remember, humans first appeared on earth 4 billion years ago, and the world never stops shifting

When it comes to immigration, there are a lot of factors at play

UK Pork Producer Flies in Filipino Butchers to Replace Lost EU Workers

(Bloomberg) – One of the UK’s biggest pork producers has spent £4 million ($4.8 million) hiring butchers from the Philippines, after a staffing crisis threatened to hamper production.

Until Britain voted to leave the European Union, 65% of Cranswick’s workers in the UK came from central Europe. That number has since plunged. Last year, the staff shortage was so severe that Cranswick had 25% fewer staff than required at its processing plants in areas such as Hull, northern England, and Norfolk, eastern England.

The Carefully Calculated Mass Migration Agenda

UN immigration official: Use migration to undermine European national homogeneity.

Making migration work for all - Report of the Secretary-General United Nations

The report focuses on making migration work for all, emphasizing its links to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report highlights: (a) options for Member States to help migrants fulfil their economic and social potential; (b) steps to promote regular migration; and (c) policies to meet the legitimate security considerations of Member States concerning irregular migration. It also explores the specific challenges arising from large mixed movements of migrants and refugees.

13. We must also show respect for communities that fear they are “losing out because of migration. While there is powerful evidence that migrants are of significant benefit to both their host countries and their countries of origin, we cannot be blind to citizens’ perceptions and concerns. Communities blighted by inequality and economic deprivation frequently blame migration for their troubles. While it is necessary to explain why such views are mistaken, it is essential to address the underlying vulnerabilities and fears of all citizens so that we can make migration work

If it seems like governments across the Western world are engaged in a frantic effort to force as many immigrants from less developed countries into American and European cities as possible, it’s because they are.

Immigration is an emotive subject - filled with human labels and their connotations.

To be a “Republican” in the US is a respected label, yet in the UK has a different meaning. As Falstaff points out to be “Red” or “Blue” over here has the exact opposite meaning as in America.

The “migrant” label likewise is used in the same way as the “boat people” label back in the 80’s
