I have a demo account with GFT, just about ready to open a real account. I do day and night trading. Thier platform has no been working since 5pm and says it’s closed for weekend. If I want to trade tonight or this weekend I am screwed. Is this a problem with all platforms or just GFT? Thanks…
The Forex markets are open Monday - Friday, so you can not do any trading on the weekend until Sunday night when it starts back up again. Are you sure your ready to open a real account…
Good question.
I found this kind of disappointing too, since everyone always advertises Forex as a “24/7” market. The one part of the week that I have plenty of free time on my hands and I can’t trade with it.
But as two people have said, this suggests your trading experience is less than one week so I don’t feel you are ready to open a live account.
I have been demo trading for 7 months now and still am not ready to go live. I am not saying that you aren’t some kind of prodigy or something, but if you didn’t even know when the markets are open I think you need to read the babypips school of pipsology.
I don’t mean to sound rude, but hate to hear about people blowing live accounts, then going around to all of their friends and neighbors calling FX gambling (not that you are yet).
Submitted with respect.
SOME brokers will let you put in an order, technically it wont get filled untill the market opens but they usually have a higher spread, so its not really worth it, if you manually do it youl be fine…
The biggest thing to realise is, whats going to happen sundaynight/monday morning? you shoudl really look at the swings and such they go through on sunday/monday. Reasons like that are why some people only trade on Tuesday, Wensday and Thursday. a measly 3 days, but not as bad as monday, which is better then sunday, and friday depends on its moood – sometimes its jjust like Thursday, somtimes it worse then sunday/monday… just depends…
Good luck – but remember there is no race, infact if you do rush it youl be behind with less money in no time.
You need to realise alot of people ARE gambling. Taking a guess without knowing all the factors involved when the house is defintly against you (especially with guessing) is a gamble.
Just like its a big gamble to hold on to a loosing trade in hopes it would turn around – most of us dont do that, why? Were not here to gamble.
