I’ve seen posts like this in the past but frankly I don’t know if anything became of it. I’m talking about a chat room other than the one here on babypips where traders can work together in spotting possible trades. I would prefer to have experienced traders be in the room just so it’s not so one sided and it turn into a sort of “leeching,” but newbies would be welcome as well. It goes without saying that people would just be making recommendations and are not responsible for any loss you may incur.
I sometimes use Paltalk Scene to chat in rooms, but I think it would very beneficial for traders alike to come together during the trading sessions. You have the ability to use a microphone and this would probably be preferred.
You may even meet somebody who has a similar style to you and you could eventually work together.
Would anybody be interested in joining this type of community?
I figure if enough people are interested, I could open a room sometime next week for people to come in freely.
If there’s enough people I’d join but sometimes chatrooms don’t have many people. Viper maybe you can start a roster on your first post for everyone that is interested :p?
look in the MMTT thread and tymans latest thread. Both have chat rooms set up. London session has the most participants. both are more or less focused on a particular strat, but you never know what will be discussed or who will be there. I am not posting links due to a recent event;) Just take a look through those threads.
We have a chat setup at Bollinger Band DNA - Bollinger Band DNA which has anywhere from 5-20 people in it at any time. Though it is true that most discussion revolves around Tymen’s DNA start, though other issues and starts are discussed.
I think that is a great idea and for us newbies can discuss a currency pair and type of order would be placed. I like to think of it as a Forex thinktank I would love to be a part of!!
From my experience, chatrooms are only truly effective if everyone is trading the same methodology. I’ve seem enough egos clash when ideas run against each other in a chatroom that is a free for all. I do, however, frequent a Skype chatroom for the.sole purpose to just chat with other serious traders.
I can see how egos can run a muck in a chat room that has good intentions. In a perfect world it would be nice to have a senior member with like 8-12 newbies focusing on a single currency pair and observe the strategy of the senior member use some indicators ema, sma, fibo, ect… and discuss the diff. types of objectives and strategies.
Since Skype has been around, I’ve been in various chatrooms. Guess it just depends on what topics and association you have where it led to a Skype chatroom.
The particular room I’m in, is a bit of a private party, whereas we’re pretty particular on who we invite into the room. I’ve invited two people and got burned both times as they were not a right fit. Since, I’ve decided to allow invitations to only be extended by the other members of the chatroom.
It’s really not a big deal. Just a bunch of traders, chitchatting for the most part, and loosely going over who’s in what trade and why.
Since I started trading three yrs now, Ive talked to real traders voice to voice like five times or less, so I wouldnt pass up the chance to be in an active room. In my corner of Africa, internet is not yet cabled (& hotspotted) enuff and the best dialup product yet cant play youtube in a staight line, let alone support skype. Or maybe its me…
I’ve had a chance to feel the whiteboard thing there; its great - get us one while you’re at it.
Simple a 10 or 15 person limit, once reached you can’t get in. We have more than that many people in the room I linked so babypips simply can’t handle the chat needs of the community.
