Helloooo. Posting this from a coffee shop. Haha. I haven’t really tried trading outside my home office so this feels quite strange for me. But, for some reason, it’s also very soothing. Haha. Have you guys tried trading outside? Or do you find it distracting? (The only time I got distracted from monitoring my charts today was when a couple almost made out in the table beside mine. )
I guess some people might not like the idea also because people can’t help but get up in your business when you’re outside. I’m posting this as another person here in the coffee shop takes a peek at what I’m doing on my laptop.
I thought “outside bars” meant something different.
I was thinking outside, like at the park or something. Why bother trading at a place full of distractions like that? By distractions, I mean exactly what you described: people passing and looking at your screen, then striking up a conversation. If you want to be alone, I say you should go be alone.
Perhaps a quiet corner at the library would be better…
What you’re doing is what you would do if you were fishing for mentees.
My daily process is designed to ensure I am in the zone with a detached mindset for trading live. So, the only time I’m trading outside is helping a friend of mine on a demo account.
What made you choose a coffee shop?
First time I’ve heard of that. But just thinking about that within the context of forex already sounds kinda complicated for me.
This would definitely be better! Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of those here. I actually had to go out for errands and so I thought I might as well try trading outside! It’s very hot in the PH so trading outdoor is definitely a no-go for me. So the coffee shop is the next best thing!
That’s interesting! So, for example, what if you’re on vacation and away from your home office? Does this mean you also won’t open any trades?
They had an air-conditioning unit And food I could snack on. A library would’ve been so much better though. Better for my wallet too!
Of course, I do! Actually, nowadays there have so many options; especially on mobile trading! But when I started my trading, then Smartphone wasn’t available, so mobile trading was out of the thinking!
I am mostly a stay at home guy, not had any vacation for years. My office is a ‘mobile where I am.’
I use the morning up to 3p.m. Thailand time to review and trade positive probability FX pairs, if any meets my strict criteria.
Early morning is getting into the zone, taking a one hour lunch at midday, and early afternoon being prepared to act once London session opens at 2p.m. BST.
Then close for the day letting any open trades run overnight, and get on with my life.
Sweating heavy while trading can be distracting!
Any particular reason for this?
Not really. I enjoy life where I live. Before I retired, I worked for Oxfam overseas, visiting 40 humanitarian needed countries in the process. That’s plenty for anyone.
That sounds very freeing. Haha. But tbh, I’ve never tried trading on mobile. If I trade outside, I still have to do it on my laptop. Isn’t it a bit harder to switch from one chart to another if you’re on mobile?
I aspire to be this kind of organized! I love that this routine works for you and your trading. I have a lot of friends who also just like staying in rather than going on vacations, so that makes sense.
THE GIF HAHAHA Try visiting the Philippines. This will literally be you in just a matter of minutes. Airconditioning is a legit requirement!
Oh yeah! I think I remember you mentioned this in an interview. I mean, if you’ve been travelling all your life, it would make even more sense that you just wanna stay in once you retire.
Geez forty. I’m exhausted just imagining it. Good on you for taking on that role.
