Why would someone want to start sending private messages only minutes after joining the forum?

(Most of the possible answers to that question explain why you canā€™t.)

Click on the personā€™s user name who you want to send a private message to. A message box will appear. On the top right hand corner is a little green box that says ā€œmessage.ā€ Click that and you will be prompted to type like you do on a regular post.

Keep in mind although no one on the forum can see this message, I am convinced the moderators can. So just be sure and follow the same rules as on the public forum.

I believe you have to have a certain number of posts on the forum before you are allowed to send PMs?

Hello @iamvolosha. Have a read over Trust Levels, the system we use to hand out permissions. As a New User/Trust Level 0, you cannot:

  • Send private messages to other users
  • Reply as new topic in the right gutter
  • Flag posts
  • Post any images
  • Post any attachments
  • Post any hyperlinks in a post
  • Have actual links in the ā€˜about meā€™ field of their profile
  • Mention more than 2 users in a post

Once youā€™ve been on the website a bit longer and interacted with various parts of the Forum, this will change. Welcome and enjoy your time here.
