Why would someone want to start sending private messages only minutes after joining the forum?

(Most of the possible answers to that question explain why you can’t.)

Click on the person’s user name who you want to send a private message to. A message box will appear. On the top right hand corner is a little green box that says “message.” Click that and you will be prompted to type like you do on a regular post.

Keep in mind although no one on the forum can see this message, I am convinced the moderators can. So just be sure and follow the same rules as on the public forum.

I believe you have to have a certain number of posts on the forum before you are allowed to send PMs?

Hello @iamvolosha. Have a read over Trust Levels, the system we use to hand out permissions. As a New User/Trust Level 0, you cannot:

  • Send private messages to other users
  • Reply as new topic in the right gutter
  • Flag posts
  • Post any images
  • Post any attachments
  • Post any hyperlinks in a post
  • Have actual links in the ‘about me’ field of their profile
  • Mention more than 2 users in a post

Once you’ve been on the website a bit longer and interacted with various parts of the Forum, this will change. Welcome and enjoy your time here.
