Hii. I’m Rhea Martin. I recently finished going through the BabyPips School and have started trading on a demo account. It’s been fun and challenging😄. I have taken a few losses already. How did you all handle your early losses when you first started? Did anything in particular help you stay motivated or improve your approach?
I first started trading with the great advantage of 4 days of classroom training on charts, a massive stock market boom, and a growing taste for red wine.
I could probably have done it without the first two.
You could have done it without all three, if you’d simply drunk better white Burgundies in the first place and not had to bother with all those messy clarets.
Yes indeed. White wines are far more interesting.
how much did you loose in your first few trades?
Hi Rhea Martin,
Welcome! What sort of trading strategy are you using right now?
The way I copy with early losses is to stop trading entirely for at least 30 minutes. It’s just impossible to get back into the proper mindset without refreshing our mindset.
The markets will always be there, whether you enter trades like a rapid-fire machine gun, or a sniper patiently waiting for the right moment. So take your time, no rush.
Good luck!
SIA
Hey Rhea! Congrats on finishing the BabyPips School. Losses hit hard at first. Treat each one as a lesson. Journalise trades, spot patterns and improve. Focus on progress, not profits.
Hi
Thank you for the warm welcome! Right now I’m mostly focused on swing trading but still figuring things out and learning. I really like your approach to early loss. Stepping away for a bit is really helpful to reset the mind.
Welcome, Rhea! Early losses are super normal, just part of learning. Journaling my trades and focusing on risk management really helped me stay positive.
Hey Rhea! Early losses happen to everyone. For me, keeping losses small helped a ton. Just stay patient and keep learning.
Trading seems funny to you as you are indeed trading on demo account but in live trading, your feeling will be different. Don’t trade more and never take risk more than what you can afford and it will help you stay on the track.
More than welcome! That’s cool, I have never tried swing trading as I usually do scalps, so I will not give any advice or tips on that! All the best with you trading journey, so keep in mind, it’s a marathon, not a sprint, so take your time!
