Help with MACD set up on MetaTrader 4

thank you very much Shane, i’ve been looking for a classical MACD for MT4 for a long time. I actually resorted to using TOS platform for their macd indicator (with technical alerts) while having MT4 open at the same time. Thanks again

Wow, Shane, I can’t thank you enough for your MACD Complete zip! I’m brand new to MT4 and getting familiar with this platform, and when I brought up its MACD and saw what was going on I was shocked. What a useless piece of crap. I was also resorting to my TOS ProphetCharts just for this indicator, and keeping both open and switching back and forth was really cumbersome. I wondered what I was going to do. I had visions of having to learn to write programs so I could write one for this indicator. Now I don’t have to. Your zip has solved my dilemma.

The MACD indicator that you get with MetaTrader plots the main MACD line as a histogram and the signal line as a…well…line.

Why they have made it like that is beyond me. Some may see it as a deliberate attempt to confuse the newcomer.

And if you download the OsMA indicator (which is supposed to show the Histogram) you should change it so that all MA used in the calculations are EXPONENTIAL.

Alternatively, you can unzip the attached file to your MetaTrader/Experts/Indicators folder, then load it up to get a complete MACD with Histogram.

The macd complete was the missing piece of the puzzle! I was wondering why all my other indicators were aligned and I still ended up with trades going sideways.
