I have a new EA which is using the filewrite() function to record; Highs, Lows, Open, Close etc. According to MT4 it is all working BUT I cannot find the .csv file anywhere. Does anyone know whereabouts it would be saved to? I have done a search for the file name and still nothing comes up.

I have read that is should be at …/experts/files/… but it isn’t. Has anyone had this issue before?
When testing, files are here - /tester/files/
And you can always search for *.csv files with your folders browser (windows explorer).
That is where the files reside unless there was an error. Are you using Windows7 by any chance? Did you install MT4 in the proper folder (not in Program Files)?
I am using Windows 7, but I have installed it into “Program Files/MT4”… I never realised that wasn’t the proper location :34:
I have just started a *.csv search on my whole system… I’ll see what it pulls up!
Found it! AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files/MT4/Experts/Files. Thanks for the help.
Argh! Windows 7, the latest Micro$oft can come up with, and they have a VirtualStore under which is an exact replica of the ProgramFiles tree, except when files are written there, and you open a Windows Explorer window and do a search from ‘Local C:’ (ie. /) you don’t get anything found.
I would have put more than a pie in Gates’ face had it been me. It would have had red food colouring in it so upcoming speeches would have been about as inconvenient as it has been for me searching for a reason why I couldn’t find my data output files. That cost me 2 hours.
