Everything I’ve read (so far) about stock volume is written at a high level. I’ve read for currency trading volume uses pips and for stock trading volume uses Lots or Odd Lots sizes.
What I don’t know is what is a Lot size? How many shares is that? And what is an Odd Lot size?
Thank you…
For stocks, the typical lot size is 100 shares. This is known as a Round Lot. A round lot can also refer to a number of shares that can evenly be divided by 10 or by 100, such as 300, 1,200, and 15,500 shares.
Customers can still place orders in Odd Lots, which is an order less than 100 shares. An order for 35 shares is an odd lot, while an order for 535 shares has five round lots and one odd lot for 35 shares.
It’s amazing that you handled it on your own…
It proves once again that a trader should be a true market researcher…
In trading, lot size is the total number of contracts contained in one derivative security. The theory of lot size allows financial markets to regulate price quotes.
