How do you trade daily — using mobile or desktop?

How do you trade regularly — from mobile or desktop?

I trade only from a wired-in desktop. No mobiles. No wifi.

I’ve seen and heard of so many problems with both trading platforms and brokers where customers have ended up disappointed because of “mobile phone trading accidents” and “wifi accidents” that it’s something I don’t risk. Even though I’m reliably informed that the overall incidence of these problems is actually lower now than it was a decade ago.

A rather common problem which I think only ever used to arise over wifi and/or mobiles was “ghost orders“.

What do you use, @shanmugapradeep ?

No WiFi? Do you use cable internet/broadband?

I do algo trading, so I use a Windows VPS and keep checking the status on mobile, such as how many trades are opened, what the P/L is, etc.

The main reason I’m asking this question is because I keep seeing on the internet — like YouTube, Reddit, etc. — a lot of profitable screenshots from mobile MT4/MT5 or TradingView with trades, indicators, and more. I always wonder how someone can be a profitable trader by just doing analysis from a mobile device with such a small screen and limited flexibility.

I just wanted to check — do profitable or experienced traders really use mobile as their first preference for trading?

Never traded on mobile and I don’t plan to. Trading is hard enough as it is, why make it harder by trying to look at the charts through a key hole and risking a fat finger mistake when money is on the line.

I’m pretty sure professionals and institutions don’t use phones for trading. We’re all retail traders, but trading from a phone is retail trading on steroids.

I understand many people trade from a phone because that’s the only device they have available, but I think they are doing their trading a disservice. When the profits come in, buying a laptop or desktop would be the smart investment.

Tell me about it:joy::joy::joy:. My phone battery swelled up couple of times this year. I trade on my phone , I do have a laptop but I prefer my phone. I guess am used to it. :person_shrugging:. I mean I can trade even in bed ,on the go ,at a party you name the place and am there to give broker’s hard time.

I’m used to mobile.

Rather you than I, must say! I like my broker to be on my side, so I’d hate ever to give them a hard time.

Desktop on VPS 24/5

I trade only using a desktop computer, not a mobile device. So, I only trade when I’m in front of a computer screen. This allows me more freedom to multitask.

I usually do my full analysis and trade planning on desktop because the larger screen makes it easier to see market structure, draw zones, and compare multiple timeframes. It also lets me manage several charts at once without missing details. Once trades are set, I use the mobile app mainly to monitor or adjust stop losses and take profits when I’m not at my desk. This way I get the accuracy of desktop for planning and the convenience of mobile for management, which feels like the best balance.

That broker is never on your side, if they were we would be splitting those pips :rofl::rofl:

But you’re a broker, Valetax: why are you trying to sound like a retail trader?

They are if you trade futures. You’re referring to CFD’s, and you’re right about those “brokers”, of course. They’re your counterparty, even if they call themselves “STP” or “ECN”.

Sadly that’s all true.

Suggest me good Forex Future Broker which accept client internationally.

There are many.

They’re all properly regulated (of course no futures exchange would touch them, otherwise!) and safe to use from that perspective.

They all want their customers to win, rather than to lose. So the customers stay and keep paying commissions, obviously enough.

They’re genuine brokers. They all have the same prices at the same times and are not financially involved in the outcomes of the customers’ trades, which really are trades and are made in an honest, transparent market.

I don’t want to single out one specific one and recommend it, because some members here - most ironically!! - like to accuse the people who complain most about spam (that’s me) of “advertising”!!

The “Big Three” available in India are -

  • Ninja Trader (they also own Tradovate)

  • Optimus Futures

  • AMP Futures (they even have MT5 available for futures, if you really want it)

There are others, too -

  • Interactive Brokers (maybe high margin requirements?)

  • Tastytrade

  • Trade Station (desktop platform not to everyone’s taste?)

  • Ava Futures (selection of futures somewhat limited but I’d guess they have what you’ll need?)

  • Mexem (again, maybe not the nicest platform, but otherwise ok as far as I know)
