How is the lockdown affecting your trading?

Helloooo! I hope you’re all safe and healthy. :open_mouth: My country is currently on a lockdown that would last until the end of the month. I heard other countries are also currently implementing lockdown measures like the US? :open_mouth: It might really be best to stay at home so as not to get infected. :frowning:

Anyway, how is the lockdown affecting your trading? How many hours do you spend trading now, compared to your usual? Have you guys changed your goals/ limit for the week?

Take care guys! This too shall pass.

Hi Rose,

I"m from Malaysia and we are under lockdown too. Since forex is operating as usual, not much have changed. Anyway, I’m a newbie so just dived into learning forex.

Ooh! Then, welcome to BP! I guess because of the lockdown, you’d also have more time to spend in front of your computer? Are you currently reading the school here?

All most all countries lockdown, If anything happening in the world is only through online

All locked down (“lockdowned”?) here in the UK too. It seems to be saving lives. We’ll never know for sure but the total mortality rate has not been as bad as some medical people were suggesting back in February / March.

The lockdown has meant a lot of people have lost wages though many should get some money from the government if their employer just puts them on “furlough” and anyone else should be able to claim unemployment benefits. But a lot of small businesses are going to disappear. I expect they will all be replaced after the emergency, when people want to spend money again but its sad so many people will have lost their savings and their dreams only to see someone else open up a new business in the same place.

Meantime, trading my newest favourite strategy seems unaffected by the covid-19 emergency, though some daily ranges have been pretty wide - actually that might have helped the results as it works off an early day break-out and the further price travels after that the better for me.

Thank you. I’m spending more time online lately. It’s good to learn new stuffs. People behind BabyPips have done’ a wonderful job of creating free forex school. It gives a strong foundation for me to grow my knowledge.

I just reached Pivot Point lesson.

How long you’ve been into forex ?

I am staying home, following the lockdown but I am mostly just watching the market without trading. First, because it’s too volatile, and second, I am much too stressed to trade. I have a hard time focusing on making a proper analysis so I don’t take risks.

Yeah. :open_mouth: Even drinking sessions/ parties are being conducted online. My friends have been inviting me to e-hangouts so I guess, it’s really good that we have the net to still keep in contact with other people. :open_mouth: Otherwise, I bet a lot of us would go crazy over the lack of social interactions! :frowning:

Yeah. :frowning: This is really unfortunate. Since a huge chunk of our population rely on daily wages, I could just imagine the struggle they’re going through to also be able to provide for their families. :frowning: :open_mouth: It’s great that both of our governments are providing financial assistance. I just hope this is enough to help people survive throughout the pandemic. :frowning:

Small businesses would really take the hit on this one. :frowning: And maybe even online businesses since they would not be able to transport their products too? I hope there’s some sort of assistance for business owners too. But that may be asking too much since we already have a lot of people who are less fortunate. :frowning:

Good for you then! At least your lock down seems to be going pretty productive. I’m not sure I’ve read about this new favorite strategy? Since when have you been using this? Just glad that you’re doing well and not overexerting yourself when it comes to your trading.

We sure have a lot of time to get to learn new things. (I wish I could become more productive and maximize this time instead of just sleeping and eating all day.) Anyway, good job! How are you finding the school so far?

I’ve been into forex for a couple of years now. How about you? Are you currently demo trading while also learning about the basics?

That’s fine! I think economies are really affected by everything that’s happening so it might be best to just stay out of the market if you’re not confident with opening new positions. I hope you could get more rest so you won’t be as stressed. :open_mouth:

Hi,
Hope you are well. Yes, you are right. Our country is also lockdown around 25 days. Now i just stay at my home. Because COVID-19 never affect you, until you will go outside and bring him with you.
Moreover, this situation is really affects our trading system. If economy will down then trading system will must be down. Before i was spend 4 hours for trading but now the time is very short, which i spend for trading.
By da way please be careful from COVID-19

Thank you…

Oh really? :open_mouth: That’s interesting. I thought people would just have more time to trade since they’d just be staying at home. So what’s keeping you busy then, if not your trading? Also, hope you take care and stay safe.

Oh btw @tommor! Just got curious. Which pair are you trading right now? I’ve been thinking whether there’s any economy that’s actually doing good at a time like this. :open_mouth:

I’m trading London opening range break-outs on the GBP/USD. Its a really old strategy, works really well as long as the market is not stagnant - narrow range daily bars kill accounts with this one.

You now Tom that the numbers are not … well we often accuse the Chinese on numbers.

Quote today from Sky News:

The numbers showed that 10% of coronavirus-related fatalities in the week ending 3 April did not happen in hospital, with more than half of those happening in care homes.

So happens that those in the UK who have passed when in their own home, hospice or care home are not identified as a covid19 death.

So tonight the ONS says over 16,000 people have had their life taken by the evil of covid19, the UK govt says 12,017

Often I think about this - the numbers - being in business it’s my first thought but now these numbers are meaningless, bottom line is that we will all beat this - and we will beat it together.
