In MT4 scroll your charts back and then hit F12 to more them forward one candle at a time.
It’s take a little bit of time, but it’s worth it! 
There is another way. I saw mention on another thread a stand alone program called Forex Strategy Tester. Google it… Ive downlaoded it and having my first play with it now. Looks very usefull and its easy to pick up.
Basically the conditions you want to change are in the middle, and the bottom you have your statement or trades and on the right you have a charge showing your income as a result of that strategy going back to 1989. I forget whats on the left. lol
Its sadly not possible for me to build the exact strategy that i would like to use, but it seems usefull, also it shows how hard it is to actually make money on forex, which could be usefull for some before risking real money
