Quick question, it may sound stupid so pls bear w/ me…
How does one earn pips while holding a short position or selling?
I mean, i know that pips are earned when buying at the start of an uptrend for example and exiting once target profits are realized?
On a downtrend, how does one earn pips?
I mean, do i have to buy first then sell?

when you buy eurusd. you are buying eur against the usd
when you sell eurusd. you are buying usd against the eur.
so when you buy eurusd you win profits if the eur gets stronger against the dollar
and when you sell eurusd you win profits if the dollar gets stronger against the euro.
