Seen as how there is one here every second day ,some tips on how to spot them would be useful
1.They use a full proper first and surname as to seem legit and trustworthy.
They use a google image search for “handsome man in shiny shirt” and use the photo as their avatar.
3.They say they work or worked in finance in some major Bank in some sort of trading position and now work for themselves.
4.They start a thread offering advice out of the goodness of the hearts to show how the pro`s do it .
5.Anybody that questions the intentions ,be it nicely or not they are banned from the thread and the scammer goes on the defensive
6.The posts themselves will be nothing new and just one of many strategies out there that everyone has seen before .
Lots of posters with 1-5 posts appear to comment on said thread stating its a bloddy great thread and oh my god you are so good to help us all out and we are all watching.
8.After a while a twitter or web page will appear to follow trades in real time
Said scammer will then be inundated with followers and people wanting to make $$$$$$
They are then told ,I dont have the time to this anymore or its costing me money so im going to start a small subscription for anyone who wants to continue observing my trades .
11.The suckers pay up
12.The money and said scammer relocate to another forum or return to same one with a new I.D. and the cycle begins again
Definitely you included most of the true points but I am not agree with you for this point “They use a google image search for “handsome man in shiny shirt” and use the photo as their avatar.” Most of the real users use their own photo as well.
Well I’ve got the handsome man in a not so shiny shirt thing going for me but that’s it, 1/12 is not too bad.
There’s an easy way of identifying the scammers that is 100% foolproof, it works every single time without fail. If you want to know, just write me a small cheque made payable to “Definitely Legitimate & Not A Scam Ltd.” & I’ll reveal all the hidden secret of the universe.
I do have a live twitter account though and a website which is a working progress, although trades are updated at the end of the day - not quite in real time.
dont forget a picture of a shiny car scraped from the web too! …other ‘‘evidence’’ of a good lifestyle could be trown in the mix for good measure as well (villa in spain, etc.) lol
Read this earlier and thought it was retrospective.
Now I realise it may be current.
If Money is right maybe in two counts because the one I’m thinking of joined in Nov which is entirely coincidentally the same month a first tweet was made from a twitter account with the same profile photo and not so subtley linked to in his thread.
With all due respect, more fool any person willing to sign up to one of these accounts with out sufficient proof. You don’t need to be good at trading to have that common attribute.
