hello everyone, I’m surprised that jpy has been weak for so long. he falls and falls, what can be the reason for that?
Japan ran a current-account deficit of 1.19 trillion yen ($10.1 billion) in January, according to the Finance Ministry – its second-highest on record – amid a widening trade deficit.
Japan has quite a unique set of problems. They have an aging population combined with longevity. They have been trying to attract foreign direct investments into their stock market by trying to de-value the JPY, hoping to bring in investors; of course there will be future problems that if the stock doesn’t out-pace the de-valuation of JPY, then it still doesn’t make it really worthwhile.
Very true we can never quite tell what is underpinning any given currency all we can do is trade what we see and be objective. Price action will give us the bread crumbs to be successful
I’m surprised too, usually JPY is strong when there is uncertainty in the world!
