So far I have to say I am impressed with FX Solutions. I closed my account with FXCM as I felt they were not supportive of those with smaller accounts, I opened an account with MB Trading … but … unfortunately they are still a bit pre-historic in their funding methods. Either mail a check & wait 2 weeks or pay for a wire transfer.
With FX Solutions, I opened an account and funded it within a few hours. I am now actively trading and can even trade micro lots. I like their trading platform the best of all I have used so far … it blows away the FXCM platform.
Still early days, I’ll report back if there are problems but this broker came highly recommended by someone I trust & so far … it is definitely the best of the ones I have tried.
Is FX solutions a market maker? I went to their website and did not see anything about commissions. Why would you choose them over an ECN like MB trading?
I am also searching for the best cost/performance broker right now. I like cost effectiveness of MB trading but I think I would have to use a different program for charting software.
The only reason I rejected MB Trading for now was due to their funding options. I wanted to get up & running right away and with MBT it would have been a 2 week delay … for a micro account I am not paying $25 for wire transfer and I also think they need to come into the 21st century with funding options.
I do have an open account with MBT and may use it in the future when I am trading full lots, but for the moment I am experimenting with a new system and I prefer both the trading platform & the ease of in & out funding that FX Solutions offers.
I use MT4 software for charting no matter which broker I have, because that is the standard around the internet & therefore is the one that has the most custom indicators written for it. I also prefer to receive charting data from a source other than my broker, for comparison.
Thanks for the advice on MT4. It is a nice platform, but it is going to take some time to get used to it. When I downloaded MT4 it forced me to start a demo account with Alpari. Does this account expire?
Also, would’nt it be more beneficial to have charting software that gets quotes straight from the broker you use? That way there are no inconsistencies between your charts and your actual trades?
Usually demo accounts expire after one month but some go on indefinitely. It is easy to start a new one.
Few brokers have decent charting programs and I prefer to get different data because I want to compare data … this is also a way of keeping check on a broker.
