Inflation Targets And CPI

Hello. I understand that many countries want to keep inflation at 2%. Is this 2% the CPI value?

Yes!

Here is a link to explanation on Reserve Bank of Australia’s website.

The 2% target is the flavour of the 21st century. If CPI is less than RPI, you may find that the government changes the definition. It does this so often, it has prompted a group in the USA to publish shadowstats, which uses the same base data issued by the same government that tells you that inflation is 5%, then it proceeds to tell you that the advertised 5% is actually more than 10% using the same criteria the government used to use 20 years ago before their Pinocchio noses grew so long they fell over flat on their faces.
