Initial Investment?

How much have most people initially invested to turn a profit that it would be capable of living on? I know that this would vary from lifestyle etc but i would say to make $700-1000 a week would be comfy.

I am currently working full time but hope in the end to be able to leave work but not till I turn a consistent profit. At the moment I am best described as marginally successful.

Anyone out there trade full time? What was your initial investment, leverage, position size etc?

Thanks for the advice :53:

This is something I wrote about before in Should I quit my job to start trading for a living?. The first question I would toss out is whether your $700-$1000 per week accounts for taxes, health insurance, and other benefits your employer covers? A lot of people forget to factor that stuff in.

Yeh that figure is including them expenses. Normally that is how much cash I have available for spending after the expenses are taken out.

This is something I want to seriously consider so obviously I don’t want to go short, I see this becoming a profession. Not ready as yet but I believe I will. I went from being as consistent loser to breaking even and now into profit. Just have to push forward to the next step now!
