Based on my experience and what I have read I would say Economic News is the Fundemental Driver Behind all price trends in the Forex Market. With that in mind I find that the most important aspect of successful Forex trading is being able to gauge the Market reaction to the breaking Economic News or how it will behave according to it’s anticipation of future Economic News.
Charts and Indicators give one a window into the psychology of the Market. It’s up to individual trade to make sense of that and come up with a plan.
When I trade Forex I take the approach of a surfer who wants to catch a great wave, I look at the weather forecast and look at the Ocean for patterns before I make my approach.

Not quite. I mean when some event happens price seems to move but that is caused by the thrill of those who have aknowledge of the events, if nobody hears about it, nothing happens.
I guess I just don’t see the appeal of intentionally handicapping myself. Who is this person that is making me choose? I like to use both, because both help and I’m trying to make money, not prove to the internet how I can make money with just one or the other.
Whatever point you’re trying to make is ridiculous, but alas, it is a trading forum after all
My point is fundamentals > technicals.
You seem smart enough to figure that was my point.
And I don’t think Sorros would consider himself handicapped by making a billion dollar short gbp trade without caring about technicals.
There really is no logical reason to limit yourself to utilizing only fundamentals or only technicals. I mean, other than trying to garner attention on an internet forum where people take your troll-bait.
I guess I dont’ know you very well, but is it your thing to get people to argue that technicals are better? Then you come out and prove how much money you’re making with fundamentals alone?
Sorry that I don’t want to get into that worn-out routine for your personal amusement.
Point stands that there is no sense in not utilizing both technical and fundamental analysis to make money in the markets. Got a counter-point to that little gem, bud?
Fundamentals (macro economic factors, geo politics, news, capital flows, sentiment, central bank monetary policy, fiscal policy etc) ARE what moves the market… They create the bias… They are the force behind moves… Technicals are laid out BECAUSE of the fundamental factors.
In other words, technicals are a derivative of fundamentals… Trading the source makes more sense then trading the derivative… Sure it may not “make logical sense to you”, but I’m not here to hold your hand and tell you how to be successful.
but price doesnt move according to fundamentals does it? it moves depending on buy or sell how much and where.
What determines if people are wanting to buy or sell… Fundamentals! Price doesn’t move in a vacuum or for no reason… Price doesn’t move price… Fundamentals do.
Sometimes it just happens that the fundamental information gives me a strong conviction towards a particular direction. But I always weigh it against the technically-suggested direction.
But if you are just using fundamentals and ignoring the levels, how wide are your Stops generally set? I just can’t imagine how you are getting tight, low risk entries ignoring half the picture… please help me understand here
I’ve have a 1000+ post thread showing you exactly what I do…
Obviously… You already saw I had a substantial thread and I would guess have already skimmed it. Safe assumption I’m going to refer to it in an argument to back up what I am saying. What a mental giant lol.
Don’t kid yourself little man, I didn’t waste a second looking up your “substantial” thread. Good to know how proud you are of that non-accomplishment
Yeh you did… It’s okay. Even an old guy shouldn’t be afraid to keep an open mind.
No you can’t. Resorting to fabricating lies to escape your debate failure?
If you actually could view who visited your thread, you would fail to find my name on that list.
BTW… how wide are your stops? Generally when someone avoids a question, the reason is that the answer is extremely embarrassing
Lol the only reason you’d know that is if you’ve made a thread before… Which coming from someone who has none opened and just opened this profile a few days ago leads to the conclusion you are a sock puppet… MasterGunner99 or more then likely Akeakami?
