Thanks I will see if I can update to 615. However, the weird thing is my indicator works fine on H1 USDJPY but not on H1 EURJPY. How can that be??? The indicator compiles just fine and is not one of mine.
Luckily I have never updated my trading PC which is never switched off and still runs build 509. I have banned Microsoft from updates and run my PC on a UPS along with the router to avoid power cuts as I only trade using EA’s. It is just so annoying that on my demo account on which I do most of my MT4 research, it is proving to be such a pain in the arse.
I have updated to build 625 but the same problems still exist. However, I did find the indicator problem for some reason it would not work on a bar shift setting > 1.
Tell me what you think of this my EA failed to enter a trade due to the unusual movements in the bands due to the last two days of February, the whole of March and the first two days of April going missing in build 625.
Meta Trader 4 (MT4) is the well known platform for all brokers, Also the execution speed is very fast. You can use it in your Android/ios applications too.
I have been trading for a short period of time, i am very comfortable with MT4 since its a stable and simple platform for traders to do forex trading in online.
There is no barrier between MT4 and MT5 any more. If you are MT4 users already, then you can also use MT5 terminals to do anything you want to do with your MT4 terminal using some MT5 to MT4 account copier software.
MT4 is quite complicated to use and as plenty of useless options and is missing plenty of usefull options, to me it’s a piece of **** but well it’s what most broker have so there is not much choice.
FXCM Trading Station 2 from FXCM is so much better but it only work with FXCM
Esignal is the best software but it’s not free, it’s even quite expensive so if you’re not already earning some good money esignal is not for you.
MT4 still the trading platform that is most used in the world today (by sheer number of users only). It is upgraded several times this year. There is another trading platform that is also good especially for those who prefer ECN environment the platform is cTrader.
Here’s how it look like in analysis mode using bright color theme…
I still use MT4 today, it doesn’t seem to bog the computer down as much as MT5 and others, but you do have to clear out the ‘tester’ files when you use the strategy tester as they can get really get huge!
If you are trading with a US broker though, be very careful using any platform with trailing stops on any open order of the same currency pair when more than one order is opened- first-in first out restrictions may cause a trailing stop on a more recent order to close all open orders of the same currency pair, with the older orders closing at a loss if they were entered at a value farther back from the price TS triggers at.
cTrader is good when it’s running but it loads much, much slower than MT4. FIFO restriction in the U.S. sucks and U.S. traders don’t like it but they are forced to deal with that rule.
Is there an easier way to place orders in the market with MT4. For example let say i want to put on a simple buy stop, do I have to manually type in the buy order, stop order…and then finally take profit order. Thats a lot of typing and/or memorizing what positions I want to put on.
I prefer ctrader by far. With it I know nobody can mess with my trades because it connects straight to the market. It’s more responsive than any other platform I’ve tried so far (mt4,mt5, protrader) and execution speed is phenomenal. Been using it for 8 months now and Im really happy with it cause I’m also trading on my mac. Broker basically gave me a url and the platform runs through safari, its exactly the same with the windows download version.
I think that MT4 is the best platform for making money in forex trading. Why??
Because these trading plarform is most used by all trader in around the world. I’m also use these trading platform from Liteforex broker and Mayzus broker.
