Is my broker up to something fishy?

Hello everyone,

I’m with OANDA and I’ve had orders canceled at “high ask” and “Low bid” levels and not actual price movement - in fact I was triggered one occasion 4 pips away; price then rose away in my favor but no joy as stop loss was triggered.

I asked OANDA and they seemed to think it was normal. It happened both in my practice and real account.

Anybody has an idea is this is right?

Getting an order filled at 4 pips off your specified price can happen during volatile times … though personally, I would not continue doing business with a broker who has it happening regularly.

The worst slippage I’ve experienced with my broker so far was 0.8 pips … that was only once, and I found it pretty annoying.
I guess I should have paid attention to the fact that NFP had been released a minute earlier.

O.

Thank you for that.
Was thinking of changing. Can you recomend one or two?
XTB ring any bells? Have a friend who used them and thinking of trying them.
(I can open account either in UK or Portugal - if thats of any relevance)

I had 2 short trades today on oanda stopped out to the pipette (im not kidding, fraction of a pip) and then move in my favor 30+ pips. Both were nowhere close to the stoploss on their candlestick charts (on fxtrade) but if i add in the helpful “high ask” price overlay as the customer service lady told me, it shows how it did that. On the first trade the candlestick chart is showing a difference of 8 pips between the high and my stoploss!

I just started trading with them so I’ll see how it goes but will also start researching other brokers.

Its happening way too often, not during news ie volatility high, and always before price reverses to go in my favor. I’m changing broker now. Also considering contacting the FSA in the UK…

What timeframe are you trading?
Do you have enable ask/bid lines?

Not saying you should stay with Oanda but so far I can tell you, I hardly note any slippage…
