Latest Dealbook keeps freezing and jamming up

Hello there.

Recently I updated my Dealbook program because I could no longer run my ealier version with GFT.

This latest version keeps freezing and stopping.

I have to keep rebooting my computer.
This sometimes helps, although I often get different price feeds on the different timeframe charts of the same currency pair.

Now I am no computer expert.
I am becoming well known at the Sydney technical support office, where they have sent me emails showing http tunneling, deleting past data.

But my problem persists.

I normally run 50 charts, that gave GFT a scare, they suggested less than 40, so for now I run 38.

My computer runs well on XP.
An AMD Sempron chip,… a little old, I am told and 1500GB RAM.

I have the fastest broadband possible and I can load my charts faster than they can at their Sydney office!!

So I am asking for help here.
Are there any computer savvy people out there?

No ranting and raving please.
This is serious.

Please reply only if you know what you are talking about with computers.

Tymen,

I am running Dealbook as well.

I have a newer computer (Intel e8400 C2D w/4GB RAM on Vista), and running a large number of charts as well (48 right now). I have found the more charts you run, the longer it takes for the program to start up.

Last night starting up, it did not load and I needed to close the application through ‘task manager’ and restart. Then it the program loaded (slowly) as it always has.

I have found that once the program is up, it remains open and stable. I have noticed different prices on only my 1M charts versus all other time frames which appear to stay in sync.

This may not offer much help your way, but at least wanted to share that it’s not the best software, even on a newer computer.

Good luck!

Thank you for that feedback Flossnhoss.

I ran 50 charts without the slightest problem on the previous Dealbook version.

GFT does not want to listen to me, but I think their latest versions are too top heavy.

I note from you that double the RAM does not make much difference although Vista seems to require more RAM.

I shall wait for some more replies if they come and put it all together.

I got my internet service providor to step up my broadband speed since I am on the fastest possible ADSL2 anyway of maximum 24,000 kb/s.

I was doing 16,000 kb/s and they stepped it up to 21,800 kb/s.

I then uninstalled Dealbook and re installed it again with all the charts.

Much better this time - not even a hint of freezing.

I will now have to see how it goes with trading this new setup.

In the past, you could use an earlier, more stable version of Dealbook but that is no longer so.

The techies from America gave me an alternative setup which is, apparently, very successful.
If my setup freezes again, I will have to use their alternative.

I am also advised that the computer I need to show 50 charts is more of the gaming type of setup.
