Hello everyone, I am beginning with an ema crossover system and am looking for software that can alert me with an email when the crossover occurs. I thought I read on the Babypips site where one of the pips guys said they use software like that. Does anyone know of such a thing? Thank you!
That is helpful. For anyone interested, alertfx is a free service. It gives alerts for about 6 pairs.
Nice post Nimrod (friend4trend).
Rosemary, I also use MT4 and I am very happy with it. You can do all the cool stuff like get alerts to email and also play an alert sound, etc. Unless you find lots of kind folks like Nimrod though, you’ll probably end up wanting to do some software programming in MT4. MT4 is free!
PipSurfer uses X-tick (see the Cowabunga Blog in babypips.com), which isn’t free but I gather that it is very easy to use for generating alerts like the one you describe, without having to write programs! I think there is a 7 day free demo available.

How do I subscribe to MT 4 is this from Market Traders Institute? Is this a good software program that gives buy and sell signals?
its free and can be downloaded from a number of sources including interbankfx and northfinance
Yes MT4 it is great software, and as Tony says - it’s free! It is provided by a number of brokers free to their client (even those just wanting to set up a demo account).
Here is a long list of some of the brokers offering MT4:
Forex Factory - View Single Post - MT4 Indicators Usage Tutorial/MQL4 Reference Documents
ODL should also be on the list. I gather from FXCM that they too will be offering MT4 in the future.
MT4 is short for Metatrader version 4, the software was created by metaquotes.com
If you want to use the advanced features of it, then also have a look at this great forum / resource: MQL4: automated forex trading, strategy tester and custom indicators with MetaTrader
Basically MT4 is a charting and trade execution software package, with advanced features such as building your own indicators and automated trading systems, back-testing etc.
Good luck Nilanthi.

Hi Tony,
I don’t know if you have heard this yet, but InterbankFX has just settled for a fine of $100,000 to the NFA. I feel that this probably confirms some of the bad vibes which people have been suggesting about them. Have a look at the case summary:
http://www.nfa.futures.org/basicnet/CaseDocument.aspx?seqnum=1345
To sign up to NFA’s Press Releases by email list so that you can see when and why brokers get in trouble, go to:
National Futures Association | Email Subscriptions
You’ll need to choose the ‘Press Releases’ Option
Kind regards,
Pipalot
In case of someone is still looking for a solution. Here is a 100% free site that allows to setup advanced email alert on forex (supports around a 100 of currency pairs) : fxalert.net
Hope it helps,
Thanks druveid for the great idea.
