I have decided to try the MacD on my charts. I notice that on the MacD inserted on my charts, it only has one line (red) running along the histogram whereas in the Babypip school charts shown in the MacD section, there are two lines (1 red, 1 blue) running along the histogram. Why is that and how do I set the MacD indicator to show the two lines? deniser
Pictures speak 1000 words…
standard MACD has two lines plus histogram. ain’t never seen a MACD with just one line.
The MACD that comes with MT4 isn’t the standard MACD.
I use this one
MACD_OsMA_4ColorH_2LVar1_mtf.zip (2.02 KB)
I am working on two demo account, one MT5 and one MT4, on both I click on Insert, select oscillators, then select MacD. I insert it as is, without changing any parameters, except maybe the colours, and on both they show only one line. RainMan says that the MACD that comes with MT4 is not the standard. I have copied his link but am having difficulty in getting it onto the platform.
Many thanks for this info. I have unzipped the link you provided and saved it to my computer but am now battling to work out how to get it onto the MT4 platform so that I can use it. If you can help, please put it in baby steps so that I can get it right first time! I’m very new to all this!
Sure no prob Been there
Unzip it, put the mq4 file in your MT4 indicators folder. This is where mine is located:
C:\Program Files (x86)\OANDA - MetaTrader\experts\indicators
Close MT4 and open it again.
Then you should be able to find it your custom indicators menu. Something like Insert > Indicators > Custom > MACD Osma Bin Ladin
Hope that helps
Well, that was easy enough, thank you, but after inserting it onto my chart, I can only see the histogram, no MA lines.
Sounds like you are still using the old MACD indi. Are you sure you are using the MACD OsMA? Make sure it says “OsMA” in the name.
It definitely says OsMA on the top (and I still have the old MacD indi on the chart). The properties box is set up differently but seems to contain much the same info as on the old MacD. Maybe I should start from scratch again, now that I more or less know what to do.
That’s odd. Maybe play around with the settings. I think maybe the important one is “showOsMA_Histo” should be “true”. Right click the MACD, then “blah blah properties”, then “inputs”.
My inputs from top to bottom are:
12
26
9
1
1
0
0
0
1.8
true
true (this one doesn’t seem to matter, true or false)

I deleted everything I had done and started all over again and this time it has worked perfectly. All the colours are there and the inputs are the same as you have listed above.
Thank you very much for your patience and your help. I look forward to working with it.
That’s great. Hope it works out for you
how did you do it sir? i have the same problem but i cant seem to load the OsMA. it only shows histogram
